Title: On Sincerity
Post by: guest88 on Dec 01, 2017 06:41 am
The more sincerity is developed, the greater share of truth you will have. And however much sincerity a person may have, there is always a gap to fill, for we live in the midst of falsehood, and we are always apt to be carried away by this world of falsehood. Therefore we must never think we are sincere enough, and we must always be on our guard against influences which may carry us away from that sincerity which is the bridge between ourselves and our ideal. No study, no meditation is more helpful than sincerity itself.

Not sure if i agree because without meditation it is hard to be sincere and without sincerity it is hard to meditate. Yet this is a provoking thought to leave us with Eric.

More on the subject:

We must come to the realization of the one life running through all. To a certain degree we attain to the realization of unity by contemplation, religion, and prayer. But what is most necessary is sincerity in our way of life. What we are is all that really matters. Contemplation and meditation help in this, but our manner of life is what is all important, sincerity in our actions, and living life practically and not in theory.

Very few realize what power sincerity carries. A false man, however physically strong he is or however great is his will power, is kept down by his falsehood; it never allows him to rise. It eats into him because it is rust. Those who have done great things in life, in whatever walk of life it be, have done them by the power of truth, the power of sincerity, of earnestness, of conviction; when that is lacking, power is lacking.

I thought it was interesting and true how he cautions us to be aware of influences which pull us away from our sincerity where meditation must surely help make you aware of those moments.

Still some things are better left unsaid.

A man who walks his truth has the ability to influence others with his silence.

Language is indeed limited but has its own power... Still a greater power is derived from Silence....

Inspiration and Creativity are natural byproducts and can provide a great Service for humanity and a sense of Bliss to the individual who, in his sincerity, expresses for the sake of expression.

The Form takes shape from the Formless which inspires It to manifest. While Sincerity can transcend an individual.... If there be a desire to Know God, one should attempt to humble the ego in his meditation.

Silence is like the Source- an Infinite pool of perfection.

I knew there was a thread on sincerity and believe this is a great power for any spiritual seeker.

And... Dear Steve, with regards to meditation.
I must say sometimes I meditate and after the fact am almost immediately swayed by Egoic influence. Meditation alone is not enough. But to pursue something with sincerity, this is the real nectar. For what is the point in meditative practice, if it is insincere?
