Title: Beyond the Senses
Post by: Jitendra Hy-do-u-no-us? on Dec 25, 2017 05:26 pm
Unless we are able to occasionally get beyond the senses we have essentially wasted our lives here on earth. That is because we will never be able to transcend this physical realm till we have. This physical realm is merely a small reality that we are hypnotised in. We live in a land of Alice in Wonderland or Oz and are living and expressing desires that have brought us here. This is not home but rather a place we have come to work out and eventually live our desires.

Through the practice of meditation we occasionally gain insights into other realities and higher states of consciousness. Otherwise we are doomed to experience only sense perceptions in all our living days and years in this life until we pass on and have a temporary rest and then again come here or a similar physical planet to once again experience the senses and the desires associated with them. We create more desires coming here in different centuries and consequently must come back again to satisfy them. Thus we are trapped in a seemingly endless round of incarnations from here to the astral realms and back. Our key to this door to freedom is meditation and the techniques associated with meditation. In this process we seek out the wisdom and guidance of the higher spiritual guides and gurus who by grave will assist us in our efforts.

I think many of us have forgotten that we come back here by choice,
By the time we realize it most of our years have passed

Thank you Steve.
The small I is intimidated by a Life outside itself. Funny and sad. Joyous and depressing. Enslaving and liberating. Do you think dissolving the ego is the only way to overcome the fear of death?

No Eric. Once we realize that we are good people working towards a good goal and serving God our death will not be fearsome, It will be Joyous. A joyous Transition. A relief and break from worldly trials and tribulations with momentary pleasures and enjoyments.

Yogananda also says death is joyous, like a bird being freed from its cage.
...When asked, "are you afraid to die? a sage replied, "This is a question for someone that will die, I will go on and live."

My friend was initiated by Gurunath into Kriya Yog this year. He met someone from his yoga class and the man asked him if he's been in the spine yet. I don't think I go past the mind enough to experience consciousness in the spine.

Today while meditating I noticed a switch in breath to a quieter and longer inhale and exhale- my head began to feel light and I momentarily lost any trace of thought. The mind quickly brought me back.

Our restlesness anchors us back to this immediate reality.
