Title: making god a reality
Post by: guest88 on Mar 22, 2019 12:36 am

There are many virtues, but there is one principal virtue. Every moment passed outside the presence of God is sin, and every moment in His presence is virtue. The whole object of the Sufi, after learning this way of communicating is to arrive at a stage where every moment of our life passes in communion with God, and where our every action is done as if God were before us. Is that within everyone's reach? We are meant to be so. Just think of a person who is in love: when he eats or drinks, whatever he does, the image of the beloved is there. In the same way, when the love of God has come, it is natural to think of God in everything we do.

My dear friend said to me,
"You must win her heart."
And I think, so it is with God.

A good question to ask daily... How can I win the heart of God? The All Powerful.

As perfectly imperfect creatures, you can Honor his Creation... Love, to the best of your ability and give thanks... Hope, always nourish hope... As Inayat Khan says, "hope is the only food of life" and for the thinking man "it is hope that is sweet not the object." Reach within for the sake of Peace, Inspiration and practice Faith in yourself and with others...

Be Blessed!

dear steve,
i tried to write out my understanding of this expression, so that i may better explain than what i could do on the phone. in short, in order to make god a reality, lovingly trust he is ultimately in control. the phrase is, "let go and let god."

so here it is friend...

"Man mistakes when he begins to cultivate the heart by wanting to sow the seed himself, instead of leaving the sowing to God."
-Bowl of Saki, October 29, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

My understanding of this message is...

From your awakening to now, you will find one of the most important qualities to develop to be your Heart. I have found, in the process, that my expectations and desires have lead to much suffering. The Heart and the Ego have a way of working that you might expect a level of reciprocity from any given circumstance. You might find this to be common knowledge. It is, it is the way of this world which is why it is also so difficult. I felt compelled to share, given that my falls often leave me with a heavy heart. In times of difficulty, continue to cultivate the Heart qualities but do not expect reciprocity or seek to control conditions. Still more God as a creator of Life, understands the plight of ego-consciousness as it develops in a world governed by the laws of nature- his laws, his worlds- what God has in store for each of us on this path of seeking has to be far greater than what our limited selves can presently comprehend. Remember the grandeur of the creator and the marvel of discovery, realize the limited self when things seem to be going awry and have Faith that the developing Heart qualities are not going unnoticed. Hope, a most beautiful transcending philosophy, has to be maintained during our difficult times. Do not shut your heart when you are hurt but continue to develop your practice and share the qualities you believe in, have Faith that God has a plan for you and things will be revealed.

Remember therefore that for higher attainment on the spiritual path study is secondary; all knowledge of occult and psychic law, all magical powers, are secondary. The first and most important principle is the cultivation of the heart quality.

One may ask: How to cultivate the heart quality? There is only one way: to become selfless at each step one takes forward on this path, for what prevents one from cultivating the loving quality is the thought of self. The more we think of our self the less we think of others, and as we go further the self grows to become worse and worse. In the end the self meets us as a giant which we had always fought; and now at the end of the journey the giant is the stronger. But if from the first step we take on the path of perfection we struggled and fought and conquered this giant which is the self, it could be done only by the increasing power of love.

What do I mean by love? It is such a word that one cannot give one meaning. All attributes like kindness, gentleness, goodness, humbleness, mildness, fineness, are names of one and the same thing. Love therefore is that stream which when it rises falls in the form of a fountain, and each stream coming down is a virtue. All virtues taught by books or by a religious person have no strength or life because they have been learned; a virtue that is learned has no power, no life. The virtue that naturally springs from the depth of the heart, the virtue that rises from the love-spring and then falls as many different attributes, that virtue is real. There is a Hindustani saying, 'No matter how much wealth you have, if you do not have the treasure of virtue, it is of no use'. The true riches is the ever increasing spring of love from which all virtues come.
https://wahiduddin.net/mv2/XIV/XIV_2.htm taken from, the heart quality.

we tend to hold love for ransom and expect it in particular fashions from particular people at any given time, and from this illusion, we race towards destruction. longing and unable to see any clear solution. this must be the giant self we face, these expectations. and when we operate from this false reality we ourselves engage in unbecoming behavior, awkward and remorseful because unlike our character. time to stop chasing.

If we surrender our body, mind and heart to God, all will be accomplished.

This works, so long as we completely surrender to God with no expectation.

This is the teaching of Ramana Maharshi

of the soul
Quote
The soul of man is a dweller in heaven. It is able to see more than the eyes can see. It is able to hear more than the ears can hear. The soul is able to expand further than man can journey. The soul is able to dive deeper than any depths that man can ever touch. The soul is able to reach higher than man can reach by any means. Its life is freedom, it knows nothing but joy and sees nothing but beauty. Its own nature is peace, and its being is life itself. It is not intelligent. It is intelligence itself. It is spirit. Its nature is not human but divine. ... Man is a process, manifestation is a process through which the spirit goes from one condition to another condition, from one pole to another pole. And through this whole process the attempt of the spirit is to find itself. ... The highest perception of freedom comes when a person has freed himself from the false ego, when he is no longer what he was. All the different kinds of freedom will give a momentary sensation of being free, but true freedom is in ourselves. When one's soul is free, then there is nothing in this world that binds one; everywhere one will breathe freedom, in heaven and on earth.

Our spirit is the real part of us. The body is but a garment. There is absolute peace in the abode from whence the spirit came, and the true happiness of the soul lies in that peace. As man would not find peace at the tailor's just because his coat came from there, so the spirit cannot get true happiness from the earth just because the body belongs to the earth. The soul experiences life through the mind and body and enjoys it, but its true happiness lies in peace.

In order to gain this peace we have to begin with ourselves. There are fights going on within us between spirit and matter. Struggles for our daily bread, and want of peace in our surroundings. We must first get this peace within ourselves before we can talk of peace in the world.

...

What keeps happiness out of one's life is the closing of the doors of the heart, and when the heart is not living, then there is no happiness there. Sometimes the heart is not fully alive but only partly. At the same time it expects life from the other heart. But the real life of the heart is to live independently in its own happiness and that is gained by spiritual attainment, by digging deep into one's own heart.

The one who has found his peace within himself may be in a cave of the mountain or among the crowd, yet in every place he will experience peace. What generally happens is that in order to get peace we blame the other person who jars upon our nerves. But in reality the true peace can come only by being so firm against all influences around us that nothing can disturb us.

...

It is natural to experience peace, but life in the world is not natural. Animals and birds all experience peace, but not mankind, for man is the robber of his own peace. He has made his life so artificial that he can never imagine how far he is removed from what may be called a normal, natural life for him to live. It is for this reason that we need the art of discovering peace within us; we shall not experience peace by improving outside conditions. Man has always longed for peace and he has always brought about wars. At the same time every individual says he is seeking for peace. Then where does war come from? It comes because the meaning of peace has not been fully understood. Man lives in a continual turmoil, in a restless condition, and in order to seek for peace he seeks war; if this goes on we shall not have peace till every individual begins to seek peace within himself first. What is peace? Peace is the natural condition of the soul.

As all great masters have said... Self peace for Earth Peace.

...Todays systems are not the solution to the current problems we face- but an inquiry and a development of faith in consciousness will reform the World.

true freedom of the soul, recognizing it first and striving towards the individual ideal until

free at last, free at last. =)

Through all the different processes of life evolution has progressed and man, as the ideal of creation, has risen higher than all, which shows that man represents divinity to the whole universe. For instance, the mineral is in man, the vegetable kingdom is in man, the angel is in man, and there is no being of the heavens and of the earth that man does not reflect. No one has ever pictured an angel as different from man; whenever man's imagination produces an angel it sees the angel which is in man – as it also finds a devil in man. Man embraces in himself all the different classes of beings, and at every step he develops and becomes greater than those. If he develops the animal nature, he is more animal than the animals, if he develops devilishness he becomes greater than the devils, and in developing the angelic nature he becomes greater than the angels, for after all angels have bowed at the feet of man. Thus every spirit, every element throughout the whole world, is to be found in man – and yet man is puzzled as to the purpose of his life.

There are many of us who are not ‘puzzled as to the purpose of life’ but are instead making an attempt to follow that purpose and make sure we are not distracted by our purpose. Let us follow that purpose together and pray that those close to us may do the same.

The Sufi does not need to follow a particular belief or faith, to restrict himself to a particular path. He can follow the Hindu way, the Muslim way, the way of any Church or faith, provided he treads this royal road: that the whole universe is but an immanence of beauty. ... How is the perfection of mind reached that we have to touch? It is reached through contemplation, through realization and understanding of the one current running through the whole of life. We begin to contemplate on that. The mind which we call in religious language the Almighty, and in mystical terms the divine mind, is the depth of life, the depth of activity, with which all activity and every activity is connected.

Therein lies the whole of religion. The mystic's prayer is to that beauty, and his work is to forget the self, to lose himself like a bubble in the water. The wave realizes, 'I am the sea', and by falling into the sea prostrates itself before its God. As it is said, 'Be ye perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect'.

   from  https://wahiduddin.net/mv2/VII/VII_6.htm

The Sufi recognizes the knowledge of self as the essence of all religions; he traces it in every religion, he sees the same truth in each, and therefore he regards all as one. Hence he can realize the saying of Jesus; 'I and my Father are one.' The difference between creature and Creator remains on his lips, not in his soul. This is what is meant by union with God. It is in reality the dissolving of the false self in the knowledge of the true self, which is divine, eternal, and all pervading. 'He who attaineth union with God, his very self must lose,' said Amir.
