i had a thread in this section on chakra visualization. But i did not mention chakra sounds. i was drawn to this subject recently by shared reading with Nomaste who was reading the Bhagadvat Gita interpretation by Paramahansa Yogananada verses 15-18 from God Talks with Arjuna. His inspiration became mine which i share with you. For any body interested in this book, I can order it and ship it too you. Send me a Personal Message if you are interested. Below are the sounds that emanate from the various chakras. When we listen intently and practice various spiritual techniques we eventually will hear sounds that are not ordinary sounds of auditory hearing but rather astral sounds and sounds emanating from the chakras.  Presently i consider myself a novice in this subject but i am eager to learn experience and share. In a follow up to this entry i will quote some of these sounds that Paramahansa Yogananda speaks of below:

muladhara chakra;coccygeal center
The devotee concentrating on this center hears the Aum or cosmic vibration in a peculiar sound like a the drone of a honey-bee. The devotee then wonders doubtfully whether this sound is a bodily vibration or an astral sound.
There is a doubt ridden state of inner absorption known as sitarka samprjnata samadhi This center is the abode of the interiorized meditational mind in its very first stage.

svadhishthana chakra; sacral center The devotee concentratin on this center is lifted above the doubting sate of mind toa a surer, more discriminating sate; he listens to a higher astral sound, which is similar to the beautiful tones of the flute. The doubting ceases, and his intellect begins to fathom the nature of this sound. This is called savichara samprajnata samadhi, or the"intellectual reason-guided sate of inner absorption."

manipura chakra;the lumbar center The devotee concentrating on this center hears an astral sound that is like a harp or vina. Owing to the dissolution of the doubting mental state and of the discriminating intellectual state, he now attains the state of perceptive Self-Realization in which the clear perception of the sound and its true nature produces a joy-permeated feeling of inner absorption or sananda samprajnata samdhi

anahata chakra;the dorsal center The devotee concentrating on this center hears the Aum "symbol of God" as a deep long-drawn-out astral bell. The mental, intellectual, and perceptive states having all been dissolved, the devotee arrives at an intuitive inner-bliss absorption that is mixed with the ego consciousness, not as the body consciousness but as a pure sense of individualized being as "I am" This state is sasmita samprajnata samdhi

vishuddha chakra; cervical center  The devotee concentrating on this center hears the eternity -controlling, infinity-spreading cosmic sound of the all-pervasive etheric vibration of the Aum whose sound is like a thunder, or the roar of a distant mighty ocean. In this state, the four preceding phases of intereiorization-mental (mansa), intellectual (buddhi), perceptive (Chitta), and egotistic (asmitata)- have been dissolved, giving rise to a deeper state of pure intuitive perception of limitless bliss, the state called asamprajnata samadhi.

ajna chakra Christ-Consciousness Center (third eye) The sound is a mingling of the various sounds of the five lower centers. This is the true or undifferentiating cosmic om vibration. This "symphony" of the five sounds of Pranava is heard in the united medullary and Christ-Consciousness center (ajna chakra). Here the devotee enjoys a greater savikalpa samadhi. He attains full realization of God in his creative aspect, manifesting as the Aum vibration.

sahasrara Cerebral Center When the devotee  attains cosmic consciousness in the highest cerebral  center and can enter that state at will and remain in it as long as he wishes, he will in time be blessed to experience that ecstasy in the supreme or final undiffferentiated state-nirvikalpa samadhi.

NOTE:  This article references source as Paramahansa Yogananda (Self Realization Fellowship).

If that article is of interest, consider the below SRF books (paperback or hardcover)... Both include awesome index, footnotes, and wonderful commentaries, and serve as a wonderful "Metaphysical Reference Book".

The link is to the Self Realization Fellowship (SRF) Publisher's web store.  There is no commision.

I wouldn't mind providing ecommerce option to help Steve support the forum over the years, but it's a whole other level of effort.   At this time the site is pure forum.   Steve does have a business license, and purchasing thru him is an option that may give him a little spare change for food and such.  Either way, the intent is simply to share relevant sources to the forum discussion.

Warmest Regards,
