Yes mccoy. Sometimes I wake up at nite and feel restless. i believe i get this energy from practicing the energization exercises daily. So i get up and practice them again and if I still feel up to it I will meditate afterwards. Thank You Paramahansa Yogananda for these exercises and the good health i have which is due in large part from practicing his routine.

Do the Energizing Exercises two or more times a day – it will become a habit to draw energy into the body. Be enthusiastic – be aware of the techniques you do every minute.

Want to loose weight? Master (Yogananda)recommended doing the running in place 100 times and also the walking in place exercise 100x which is given in the energization work out. One more thing he said: practice the stomach lift many times.

A definite asset of the EEs is that you can do that almost everywhere. The backyard, a truck stop, home or hotel room with an open windows, woods, beach and so on. No particular gear is required, only the mental gear of visualization and concentration

Weeks ago in a reply to my comment, "seems I need to perform the energization exercises again already,... wonder how many times I will energize today? (smiling)." Brotherji replied that Brother Turiyananda often performed the Energization Exercises Five times per day, as Brother Turyananda stated he had much physical karma to work out. I thought it was interesting, and also sweet kindness to simply give me comfort that it was fine to have to do "extra" to cope with one's energy (or lack of it!).
Interesting to see this again Scotty. i remember talking to Brother Turyananda myself and he told me he practiced the energization exercises several times a day. They really develop the will power. When i was younger, more limber and had more time, i used to practice the hatha yoga postures. Which really awakened my kundalini a couple of times. Now i am putting more time into these energization exercises then when i was younger. i also practice the IAM techniques almost every day. Both routines get your breath going and thus the prana energy behind breath. The 20-20-20 breathing exercises also make you have more attention to the prana energy and the breath which are keystones to the meditation routine.

I read about how a lot of folks complete these in 15 minutes. I can too. But I think it's too fast.
I know it says, By this timing you will know if you're going too fast or too slow. But then it says, Do them slowly with deep concentration.
Contradictory really.
It takes me about 30 minutes. I don't see the point in whipping thru them. I'm not so sure PY intended to do all these in 15 minutes, my bet is someone changed it.

Perhaps it depends on how many times u practice each separate 'exercise'. Many times I find it difficult to fit in all the practices. It seems like the 'demands' on our time force us to make choices. I would say that it is good u have made the energization exercises a priority. That is an inspiration to us all. I remember Brother 'Turyananda' saying he practiced them more then twice a day. I think the guidelines were set up so we wouldn't cut ourselves short. Not as 'rules' to shorten our practice if we so choose to make it longer.

SI, I agree with Steve, I would say if you enjoy the EE made with concentration and it takes 30 minutes, you should really take that time as your personal benchmark.

I can confirm the Genius of Paramhansa Yogananda in devising these exercises. The innovation is not in the calisthenics themselves, rather in the conscious control of life energy which is employed by muscle tensing to revitalize all bodily parts.
I recall reading in the Autobiography about Master's young Ranchi students and their ability to isolate all of the muscles and energize them individually. I often think of that when practicing.

Those kids were blessed to have such a Master at such an early age. Although I expect some of them did not continue with the practice.

Brother Turiyanada on the: ENERGIZATION EXERCISES 1 The mind has to be convinced about energization. 2 All of us have disease in our bodies, minds and our emotions. We must get over it by energization. 3 You are working on your physical, astral and causal bodies in the exercises. Disease has to be removed by the harmony of all three bodies. 4 What is will power? There are two parts: a desire b enthusiasm- the greatest conductor of will power in your spiritual life. 5 Problems develop from underaction or overaction of life energy. 6 To become spiritual involves biological regeneration. The attention at the C.C. is vitally important in order to draw in the lifetronic energy that heals. 7 You must do every exercise with devotion. 8 EE helps to transcend body identification, energy identification and thought identification. There is a definite re-engineering at the cellular level to get us ready for the cosmic current. 9 "When doing the Recharging Exercises, invoke a reverential feeling. God Himself has given these exercises to Guruji. You are to be embraced by God as Christ Energy."

Yes it amazing having exercises that help you use imaginary barbells without paying for a gym or expensive workout equipment. You can take your gym equipment wherever u go! There is muscle tension associated with picking up a barbell. In the same way u can consciously exert tension in those same muscles. You can get the same result but at the same time consciously draw energy inward to do so and develop will power in the process!

In other words, weights will tend to cause substantial increase in skeletal muscle mass, whereas the EE might act more on mitocondria , the cellular energy plants, that seems more germane to pranic control. Also to grow muscles is not always necessary to emply weight and gym appliances. Jail inmates in lack of gyms practice push-ups,. pull-ups and many other exercises which take advantage of bodyweight. EEs remain a unique concept anyway and a sure way to keep muscles and connective tissues healthy.

I still practice these spiritual exercises every day and will never forget the day my blood pressure dropped from about its usual 150 over 98 to 120 over 72 and has never gone up since. I thank Paramahansa Yogananda for this miracle in my life and have no doubt in my mind that he performed this miracle and my religious devotion to practicing these energization exercises was part of my cure because I remained faithful to the practice of these energization exercises he created. It is 2:06 a.m. where I live and I am going out on the porch to practice them now! At the end of a very busy day Paramahansa Yogananda would often be seen going out outside and energizing. Since he recommended practicing the energization exercises twice a day he often went back into his room and later was seen walking back on the porch to practice them once again. I remember talking with Brother Turyananda and that he told me that at the time he was practicing the energization exercises 3x a day. They build will power in us as well. He also told me he was trying to lose weight and that he ate one day and then would not eat the next. Alternating from one day to the next; eating and not eating. I asked him if I should do the same and he said “No”. He told me the best way to lose weight was to push yourself away from the dinner table lol. Below I am practicing the energization exercises at Lake Michigan near where I live. [attachment deleted by admin]
