Dear Jitendra -

I hope we'll all be boiled to be blue in the face ...and rest of our bodies one day, just like Krishna

.

Namasté -

Sat Nam Omkar Divine Mother Amma was also born with a blue hue. It took many years to wear off and she was considered a freak of nature. He is very exotic to look at i wonder what artists rendition of him is in this picture.....and if that is the way he looked playing out his role in Vrindavan is place of birth. He embodies the female and male all in one.

My Krishna is blue, the tamal tree is blue , so i do love thee tamal tree. So do I love thee my tamal tree! and when I die , o mother ...

The meaning of the name Tamal is Dark Tree
The origin of the name Tamal is Indian (Sanskrit)

Janmashtami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna who is known through his advice to Arjuna, a spiritual seeker, on the battlefield of Kurukshetra given to us by Vyasa, the writer of the Mahabharata of which the Bhagavat Gita is a part, and gives the dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna before Arjuna fights.

Each time Janmashtami comes up I am reminded of a song that devotees at the SRF Temple of Paramahamsa Yogananda sing:

My Krishna is blue, the tamal tree is blue, so i do love thee tamal tree.
So do I love thee my tamal tree!
and when I die, o mother
put me high
on a branch of the tamal tree
on a branch of the tamal tree
Where Krishna sat, there I would die
on a branch of the tamal tree.

According to legend of the Bhagavata the tamal tree is closely associated with the life sport of Lord Krishna – and Krishna is shown to be of blue or dark skin color.

Perhaps Krishna’s tamal tree is related to the Tamala Tree, which is called Cinnamomum tamala and it’s extract is strongly aromatic, somewhat reminiscent to cinnamon or cloves. Often labeled as “Indian bay leaves”, they are used as a spice and also for medicinal purposes.
