Perhaps we can add to this list of reasons we are inspired to meditate. i will start with a couple:
It is the best way to find true happiness. It helps us see clearer. It gives direction to our lives. It changes are perspective towards others, our lives and ourselves. It helps us to experience God's presence

hi steve. last night i had been seriously thinking on meditation. i had stopped because daily meditation was leaving me feeling isolated from my generation and crazy. i still havent meditated fully to say i am disciplined and can still my mind. in fact i felt a little crazy like i was starting to live inside my head even more so. but you know what im missing something from that life style now. a reason i want to get back into meditation is for clarity. also for understanding my emotions and others without getting involved emotionally. the whole reason i posted the how to train your psychic senses was a result of last nights pondering regarding meditation. i miss feeling light and free. i want to communicate with spirits most importantly. i know the ultimate goal is to draw closer to god but i really want to see auras again or smell beautiful aromas that arent present- i want to train in psychometry and remote viewing. i think a little meditation will help in these areas. thanks ! hey, parallel synchronicity is it ?

Eric we must recognize that we live in a very crazy culture. We must live and think out of the box. Otherwise we will end up like all the rest of the chickens that end up getting fried. This drama that is being played for us is very tantalizing. God set it up so that his drama would play for a long time. Yet we know that there r a few of us who r finding their way out of the labyrinth. We congregate and compare notes together. We must find our way out of the slave culture we born into. A genius is always ridiculed on some level. Why not recognize who we r and who they r? This is our plight. Y waste your life fighting the real u? Every experience in life is a door that opens to freedom or prison. It is our choice. Do we continue our life with those who live in a slave colony?
Parallel synchronicity? Our destiny has found its time. We r citizens of the cosmos. Y get lost in the slums of spiritual amnesia? We all live in our heads. U r just noticing it more in meditation. Think of the dark closets that most people inhabit in their minds. They do not even know there is a light switch. At least we have turned on the light switch in the dark closets of our minds and recognize the small space we have inhabited.

Hey Eric ! no reason to miss out on life ! meditation may not be the answer for everyone some people really get into it, others don't meditation should not replace living and experiencing life one cannot just sit and live in this absent state of mind called bliss forever or maybe some can relax, you will not become fried chicken, lol !

Delusion is strong yet the draw towards the lite is even stronger. Some of us learn from the pain of the world. This is our first teacher: the world. When we r in tune with the guru and our guides we begin to recognize that our destiny is reoriented. We r no longer the victims of the whims of our conditioning environment. We draw from those who have been put into our lives to show us the path towards the lite. Our pull towards what we think we have been missing out on begins to weaken. We realize that what the world shows us is not true any how. This is not reality. We r all in God's dream. Nothing is real especially all the drama that is playing around us. Our search for the truth will open doors to the true reality.
This does take some patience and faith. These r also qualities that we r developing when we think we r missing out on life. Our faith is sometimes weak and we begin to have faith again in the world and not in the truth and the intuitive flashes that lead us away from delusion. But eventually our magnet changes and our material minds r reshaped to accommodate the truth of existence and the true meaning of the experiences we have.

But then we re-enter the material world. We may leave the church parking lot and fight to be the first one to leave before all the others.(Unless your a turtle and you are just glad to make to the other side safely) .... How easy we seem to forget or maybe we become entangled again at this spiritual level like fishing line that wasn't properly spooled (schooled he he). HELP, THIS IS A MESS! hi elfun; you really don't have to go to church to be meditating. the idea is to bring the peace and joy we feel in meditation into our lives. 1 might ask a question of themselves: how do you escape our thoughts? where our thoughts are : there is our consciousness. the only way, developed by man, to escape and transcend our thoughts is thru meditation. meditation is the portal out of this dimension. yet thoughts are a very strong thing. I have not heard from you for a while. and after I got done posting this I saw your name on the forum..... the power of thought! Jitendra

agree on the thinking, not thinking times so what's the deal with this bliss feeling ? meditation is over, the feeling goes .... you seem to have a love for nature. have you not ever been in the woods and felt this oneness with everything. this joy... this beauty around you. if you did. did it make you very happy? this is the kind of bliss I'm speaking of. sometimes we are so happy we just cry and cry and cry but it is out of joy. sometimes when we meditate we experience this bliss... the remembrance of this experience is still with us and sometimes it percolates up into our consciousness during daily life. can you relate? Nomaste2all i do not know if you know how much joy it gives me/us to have you come back here. i know it will never be quite the same. But how can we forget there is so much joy..... so much joy we shared!
Jitendra
Namaste2All; It reminds me of the times we shared in the woods of Northern California and mountains of Tennessee. Thanks for sharing:The woods Like Gentle Heart
Accept us unconditionally
Allow us to simply return from our mental illness of Human Doing - return to Human Being
For the woods comfort us That we still exist and flow in joy Even when we suspend (For brief interlude) All that fixation upon Doing Woods show thru resonance with its heart to our natural Gentle heart
That "Being" is not void It is harmony rhtym cycles Vibrant in utter humility and gracefullness (Perhaps like a little donkey- love stripped down simple and pure )
Woods gentle heart is our glimpse at Chitta nucleus potentil in each heart
