the mind is like getting a plate of food and then seeing someone else's plate beside us.
we think.... I should of got that. what we like today we dislike tomorrow.
in this manner our mind is continuously vacillating. soon we lose track of who we are.
we could tell our fingers and feet to be still but can we tell our thoughts to be still? this is the goal of meditation. we need to still our minds. it is a essential to begin to realize the expansivenes  of the universe.

We are the slaves and our mind is the master but in reality
we are the master and the mind is subordinate.

How do we still the mind?  i have given a lot of THOUGHT   Grin  to that question. Paramahansa Yogananda has stated that: 'in the Divine Mind an unchangeable perception of Bliss is ever present.' How do we cultivate this state of consciousness?
It seems to me that the most important element would be to give time to the quest for inner stillness  so that the minds activities can slow down and we can get in that stream of cosciousness called bliss that Yogananda talks about and experiences.

It seems to me that one of the first steps is to recognize where we are internally speaking. There are few of us who even recognize that we are insulated and emtombed in a world of our own view and thoughts. Often we find most people around us unaware that their whole perception about their reality is based on their own thoughts. We are hopelessly lost in a world of our own. Unless we start listening to the Masters who have overcome this dimension in which we find ourselves we will never get to the next state in our evolutiion-which is out of mind and into altered states of reality. This reality in which we find ourselves is a fiction created by our own thoughts and perceptions. Similar to dreams we have at nite-while they take place we believe in their reality until awakening. If we go on believing this reality in which we find ourselves is true and do not accept a possible different view, we could be swimming in a sea of dillusions for endless incarnations.

Here i am talking about You the executive of the ego state and stretching the boundaries of consciousness.

it is the rule of servant.
the servant has become master.
unless we stage a coup and get our kingdom back.

Sounds like life to me! Like the spinning icon that often comes up while waiting on the internet; we too are caught in an infinite loop. Those that are moving along in the same routine are not always as fortunate as some of us who are jostled and shaken up a little out of a deep sleep.

As an afterthought; It is because of friends like you and Prabhatsina that i am able to express such thoughts.

 From the Tempest

Prospero:
Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits, and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd tow'rs, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

The Tempest Act 4, scene 1, 148–158
Anticipating his daughter's wedding to the Prince of Naples, Prospero has staged a short entertainment, with spirits taking the parts of Roman gods. But he abruptly cuts the fun short when he remembers some pressing business. He tries to calm the startled couple by explaining, somewhat off the point, that the "revels" (performance) they've witnessed were simply an illusion, bound sooner or later to melt into "thin air"—a phrase he coins.

Prospero's metaphor applies not just to the pageant he's created on his fictional island, but also to the pageant Shakespeare presents in his Globe Theater—the "great globe itself." Dramatic illusion in turn becomes a metaphor for the "real" world outside the Globe, which is equally fleeting. Towers, palaces, temples, the Globe theater, the Earth—all will crumble and dissolve, leaving not even a wisp of cloud (a "rack") behind. Prospero's "pageant" is the innermost Chinese box: a play within a play (The Tempest) within a play (the so-called "real" world).

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream, and people are the "stuff" dreams are "made on" (built of)—just as characters might be called the "stuff' plays are "built on." "Our little life" is like a brief dream in some divine mind, "rounded with a sleep"—that is, either "surrounded" by sleep or "rounded off" (completed) by sleep. Prospero seems to mean that when we die, we awake from the dream of life into true reality—or at least into a truer dream.

"The stuff of dreams" seems to derive from this passage, but it only superficially resembles Prospero's pronouncement. "The stuff of dreams" as we use it today refers to a scenario one can only fantasize—something devoutly to be wished. Prospero's "stuff" refers to the materials that go into creating an illusion, not to the object of a wish.

Take note that Prospero says "made on," not "made of," despite Humphrey Bogart's famous last line in the 1941 film The Maltese Falcon: "The stuff that dreams are made of." (Bogart suggested the line to director John Huston, but neither seems to have brushed up his Shakespeare.) Film buffs may think "made of" is the authentic phrase, but they're only dreaming.

i suppose one important factor is to recognize that we are constantly dealing with our own ideas and views of the world.
That is why we come in conflict with the outside world. It is important to also recognize that everyone around us is waging a war of perceptions with the outside world. Yet how can we always be in the rite?

It is easy to see the ego and mind working and taking control in others but not so easy in ourselves. Well Prabhatsina at least you
recognize the battle. Most of the world doesn't. There are many spiritual aspirants who also have this challenge of not seeing themselves clearly.

lokah samastah, that chant.

well on the way home from work i saw a license plate that said, ama mom.

followed by the repeating numbers 888. i am thinking of you in this moment and your special connection to amma.

i hope your thread reaches you tonight.

Wow 😳 you are always resurrecting posts and it often jars me out of my inertia and complacency.... thanks! Goin to go right out and energize and meditate now almost went back to sleep!

Just talked with a monk friend a few days ago that reminded me of Amma’s predictions about some big things happening on the earth plain. I remember her saying two things between 2020-2024. But he seemed to think one of them would be in 2020.

Next day... still inspired by having a friend with the same interests! Sent a picture of a trail in the park across the street from where I live... going jogging and to meditate there now!
