Everything is borrowed from God.
How does God want us to use his gifts?
The man or women of humility knows
that he or she is only channeling powers.
They do not belong to us. They are borrowed
from God.

in reality we do not exist as individuals it is God who manifest thru us.
if the my, me, mine does not exist anymore there is nothing to upset us.
because only god is there. the way to practice humility is to relate everything to God  Smiley
Of ourselves we can accomplish nothing. God is they doer. Pride is a cover up
for our insecurities.

a writer of a novel gives all the characters life he becomes those characters.
god creates us and he wants us to fulfill his plot. the difference is the novelist has full control.
but god makes it interesting by letting us do our thing.
we are like actors and actresses but the cosmic director says you go act now improvise. But he gives us clues; cosmic hints that we can follow to aid us in our lines.

there is are no lines no plot no script but there is a prompter. like a  man below the stage who promts actors to say the right lines. god gives us a prompter which is the voice of conscience. but if the house is noisy by oversensitivity fears and anxiety, physical desires, defensive and other wrong attitudes,we are unable then to listen to the voice of conscience. by calmness we are more able to hear the voice of conscience that is why we meditate. We need to have peace and calm in the house so we listen to the voice of God within. The divine voice within us will help us. That voice becomes  very faint or dim because we have not listened to it for one or more lives.

Brother Turiyananda on Humility;

HUMILITY
1) Through the valley of humility, you will find the ocean of divine love.
2) Humility is a true sign of God contact.
3) Spiritual pride is the most destructive of all.
4) Defeats make you very humble. You don't judge anyone anymore.
5) The length of time it takes for you to apologize to someone you've hurt indicates the caliber of your mind.
6) You must fling yourself at the feet of God. Humility is the most important quality.

Humility is not being offended by what others think or say about us.

Most of my creativity is spurred by the interacting with another and so my best moments are not my own but the act of god

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan

One must not only be an artist; one must become art itself. Then to the one who is so absorbed in his work that he forgets himself, that capacity, that intuition, that skill will come naturally. He begins to do wonders, and his art becomes a perfect expression of what he had in mind. ...  People think that it is the artist who has made it; in reality, it is God who has perfected it. As it is God's pleasure to create the world, so it is also God's pleasure to create through pen and brush and chisel, to give life to what is lifeless.

   from  http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/X/X_4_8.htm

The artist who has arrived at some perfection in his art, whatever his art may be, will come to realize that it is not he who ever achieved anything; it is someone else who came forward every time. And when the artist produces a perfect thing, he finds it difficult to imagine that it has been produced by him. He can do nothing but bow his head in humility before that unseen power and wisdom which takes his body, his heart, his brain, and his eyes as its instrument. Whenever beauty is produced in art, be it music, or poetry, or painting, or writing, or anything else, one must never think that man produced it. It is through man that God completes His creation. Thus there is nothing that is done in this world or in heaven that is not divine immanence, which is not divine creation. ...

What is art? Art is the creation of beauty in whatever form it is created. As long as an artist thinks that whatever he creates in the form of art is his own creation, and as long as he is vain about his creation, he has not learned true art. True art can only come on one condition, and that is that the artist forgets himself -- that he forgets himself in the vision of beauty. ... We are vehicles or instruments that respond. If we respond to goodness, goodness becomes our property. If we respond to evil, then evil becomes our property. If we respond to love, then love becomes our possession.

"The scene was a Kumbha Mela at Allahabad," Lahiri Mahasaya told his disciples. "I had gone there during a short vacation from my office duties. As I wandered amidst the throng of monks and sadhus who had come from great distances to attend the holy festival, I noticed an ash-smeared ascetic who was holding a begging bowl. The thought arose in my mind that the man was hypocritical, wearing the outward symbols of renunciation without a corresponding inward grace. "No sooner had I passed the ascetic than my astounded eye fell on Babaji. He was kneeling in front of a matted-haired anchorite. "'Guruji!' I hastened to his side. 'Sir, what are you doing here?' "'I am washing the feet of this renunciate, and then I shall clean his cooking utensils.' Babaji smiled at me like a little child; I knew he was intimating that he wanted me to criticize no one, but to see the Lord as residing equally in all body-temples, whether of superior or inferior men. The great guru added, 'By serving wise and ignorant sadhus, I am learning the greatest of virtues, pleasing to God above all others—humility.'"— from Autobiography of a Yogi (p.317) -- Read more: https://yogananda.com.au/gurus/babaji_quotes02.html

Humility

Humbleness is the manifestation of an understanding heart, and sets an example of greatness for others to follow.
