Bhaktananda Sermon on the Mount YAG 9-5-78

Poor in Spirit = undeveloped spiritually. They can  be “blessed” = blissful.
The poor in spirit who are seeking.

Mourn = deep sorrow. How can they be blessed? If it is the soul crying for Divine expression it sorrows for God. God responds to sincere mourning – with peace, love and joy.

Meek = humble. To be humble a man first must have no opinions, be neutral, be receptive. A proud person only wants to display himself, not receive any wisdom.

Inherit the Earth = God not only gives spiritual consolations but material too.

Hunger and Search for Righteousness = brings satisfaction.  What is righteousness? It is doing what is right physically, mentally and spiritually. It presupposes knowledge of God’s laws.

It is forgetfulness of God that brings unhappiness

Mercy = helpful, useful, forgiving. Actually, only a Master can be really merciful in the ultimate sense.

Bhaktananda Gratitude late 1970’s

When you are showered with blessings – as all SRF devotees are – you must return something. Karma is involved. What we get:

•   Talks and guidance of ministers
•   Holy facilities and grounds
•   SRF friends, an SRF “home”
•   SRF Lessons and books and tapes
•   Kriya Yoga
•   Techniques
•   Retreat – Encinitas
•   Ox Yoke
•   Blessings of the Masters and God .

We need to ask “what are we doing in return?” Is it enough?

Bhaktananda Loose Note late 1970’s

Do not speak of something you are going to do or accomplish beforehand. Other’s negative thoughts obstruct positive astral forces. You also waste your own energy in so speaking. Just do it and after it is well under way, or finished, then you may say a few words. Master did things that way.
