The American Myth and
Demystifiying America

i have witnessed a very interesting thing happening in the United States right down to the personal level.

Many people lived in the the confederacy during the civil war who did not believe in the myth of domination of a whole race and slavery. They worked behind the scenes to free the slaves. Yet were branded as cowards by the
south. They lost friends and family and were persecuted and murdered for their different views. Similarly there were Americans who did not believe in the treatment of the American Indian who were branded as unpatriotic. Because following the establishment of the United States of America, Native Americans were denied basic civil rights for many years.

Similarly today many Americans do not believe in the American Myth of domintating other countries economically and promoting slave labor to promote a certain material luxury here in the states for a certain group of people and the rest of us are  tools and cannon fodder to maintain this lifestyle for the elite. We as Americans who see this happening are often labeled 'rebels' or 'unpatriotic' or 'communist' for showing open resistance to warfare to promote a certain lifestyle here in the United States. i have even seen friends separate because they think that we, who are exposing this myth, are traitors of a sort.

Ron Paul has it right when he said “They don’t attack us because we are rich or free but because we have been over there.” He supports the withdrawal of our military presence around the globe. He as also said: “If we think we can do what we want around the world and not incite hatred then we have a problem". . The only problem is that he does not  see the reason for our need for such a presence in the first place and for taxes for entiltlement programs in the states. It is because of our economic domination of other countries that we have to defend ourselves and it is because of economic domination that we have such awful poverty in the United States. It is economic denomination that caused slavery. It is because of economic domination that caused the trail of tears for the American Indian and it continues to be economic domination of other countries and the poor in this country that create International and domestic strife. Economic denomination=Selfishness=Spiritual Poverty.
And, until we have a sense of dignity, liberty and justice for all Americans we will have poverty here in the states both materially and whats worst: spiritually.

Until economic power is also withdrawn we will continue to have the al Qaeda,  the Taliban and other people hounding us. Interestingly you do not see these groups attacking the rest of the American continent: Latin Amerca, Central America and South America.

A certain group of Amercans are consisdered way out or jealous because others have more. Yet in reality we as 'some Americans' can see thru the American Myth. The Barbie and Ken doll mentality, instead of a more spiritual view of ourselves, the 'get more' regardless of the consequences. The 'exploit the earth' to maintain a certain lifestyle: All these myths must be looked at if we are not to go over the ecological and economic cliff in our world and in the United States.
