thanks Serena it brought tears to my eyes because I know just what he's talking about. I  use om ma or ma om....or hong sau (I am he..he is me) then I have a mantra Amma gave me personally. Yea they can take you to anorher level...all of a suden the plant you have been watering and working on sprouts and you feel so  happy. The mantra works on your attitudes. It works
into your state of being and transforms it for a time.

when you chant om, it  helps you disconnect from the conscious state. chant om. It will give you strength to just be and to disconnect from the material world. When you set quietly the mind will tell you stories. You will be taken away from the meditation. These are tricks of the mind but you are the master of mind. Tell the mind to shut up. use your mantra when thought arises. mantra is the means to kill thoughts. mind can destroy your life. your personality is a result of mind. you're destiny is is a product of your thoughts. Mind is so dangerous. If you do not know how to control it; the mind takes away your peace.  We are trying to unload and release all the information in the mind.

Try to practice mantra always. Become aware of the silence in between the mantra spoken.
Expand the silence and then silence remains and mantra disappears. All that is left is peace and out of the peace arises all higher states of consciousness. Practice mantra and japa always.
Japa is the meditative repetition of a mantra whether it be outloud or in service, in the world or in the inner silence of your meditation. Practice mantra always. Mantra is our communication with the universe and God. It creates receptivity. Mantra. Mantra Mantra..... om shanti shanti shanti.

Chanting a mantra during the d a y acts as a pick ax that digs open spiritual awareness of all sorts. Mantras given by Enlightened Beings are imbued with the power of their source.They are an important tool in spiritual awakening.
