Thanks for sharing Namaste2All. It seems to me that one of the most difficult elements of physical attraction and love is the fact that one can be physically attracted to someone that does not share the same attraction. Or one can love someone they do not  have a physical attraction for. Or someone else may share an attraction for us that we do not share for them even though we may care deeply for them. These incongruities may arise as a way of showing us that this world will never quite offer the happiness it promises.

The whole matter of sexual attraction is an interesting consideration. Where and how does attraction to another human being arise? Is it some kind of conception in our brain that creates a desire for a certain form? Yet how can this be completely possible if we are attracted to a form but suddenly find no interest when we find that the form we are attracted to is devoid of a spiritual nature. Or even more difficult: When we find that someone else is attractive in some ways but very emotionally or spiritually immature in other ways?

No doubt there are those that have all these mixed feelings about us as well. Then there are strong attractions to others who are in relationships that are unsatisfactory to themselves yet for various reasons they do not pull themselves away from such relationships.Then there are those who have a satisfactory mutual attraction yet for various reasons become jealous and possessive about keeping them or still feel an unsatiable longings that are not completely being satisfied.

I have observations but answers to such dilemnas are not as easily obtained. The unfortunate
element is that attraction/repulsion seems to lead to many separations. Yet how is one to avoid
such parodoxes of life? Perhaps that is why some of us here spend so much time meditating; to transcend these dualities of the human condition.

To much to tell and to little to know! I guess it boils down to the fact that you have to shake off the vibrations of those that cause more confusion to the mind.

Hello Scott I found the article you included in this section very helpful. Like anything in this reality some of it does not ring true with our cosciosness; our present state of being. Personally sex for the purpose of procreation seems quite out of line with the present population explosion and the awful results of it that I recently experienced in southern California.Some religions and cultures have made the places they live oppressive with suffocating human over population. How can we respect the procreative use of sex when we see its outcome in destruction to mother earth? 'Be fruitful and multiply' proves how wrong the Bible can be if applied to all present circumstances.

On the otherhand sex as an expression of love and afffection seems much more constructive.
Closeness, physically, emotionally and most of all spiritually is a very potent way of learning and growing. We learn much by being alone also. There is a time for everything. I do not believe that being a celibate makes one spiritual unless someone has really risen above the desires of this world and the desires in our consciousness. In the meantime sex and physical expression of love and affection can have a higher and higher expression.

Sex can remind us of the beauty we have shared in closeness with others. It can get us out of our heads and into kindness because of the closeness we have shared. It can be a way of sharing unity with another human being. Sharing meditation practice can also work this way. The beauty about meditating with another person is that energy will never be withdrawn. Although one person may deny the beauty that two people had in physical closeness. For a time this may bring reactions yet when we understand those reactions we become ok with the fact that love may not always be returned even in a higher form.
But it is more blessed to give then recieve. Sometimes we get a recognition of what this truth signifies.

I try to find God in whatever i do and strive to find others who look at everything in this light. I cannot imagine being close without having an expression of spiritual unity of some sort. Yet, I have found my experiences turn out this way; They begin with the spiritual and usually stay that way. This also can end relationships since spirituality is often viewed differently.

Feeling a physical affinity can also retain a relationship when other differences exist. I have a friend that we shared a physical closeness years ago. We are still the best of friends. I sincerely believe that one of the main reasons we stayed friends after all these years is because of the physical intimacy we shared. By the way physical intimacy can be expressed many ways.There are people who have a gratitude for the intimacy they shared. Also some people frustrate one another because of unexpressed sexual desire. I have seen it end relationships.

I visited a friend yesterday who was physically close to another friend of mine. They are still close friends although they are not spiritually compatible.  Such is the nature of duality and the unusual differences in human nature and relationships.

An experience i have had with sexuality is that often when we make an attempt to satisfy it we only increase our 'bondage' to it. It can easily become like adding more firewood to the fire. Yet i do not believe we should try to ignore it or force ourselves to b celibate. It is just a tricky subject and often presents challenges in finding a balance.

I have found that some sexual stimulation in my life increases my own physical routine, including exercise.
In that sense it seems healthy to me. I can always appreciate people who are pleasant to look at because they keep in shape.

Sexual Desire

Something more should be said here about the natural instinct of propagation which is next to the instinct of self-preservation the strongest in the animal body. Sexual desire, like all other desires, has a normal and abnormal or diseased state, the latter resulting only from the foreign matter accumulated by unnatural living as mentioned above. In sexual desire everyone has a very accurate thermometer to indicate the condition of this health. This desire is forced from its normal state by the irritation of the nerves the results from the pressure of foreign matter accumulated in the system, which pressure is exerted on the sexual apparatus and is at first manifested by an increased sexual desire followed by a gradual decrease of potency.

This sexual desire in its normal state makes man quite free from all disturbing lusts and operates on the organism (awaking a wish for a appeasement) only infrequently. Here again experiment shows that this desire, like all other desires, is always normal in individuals who lead a natural life as mentioned.

Once it gets used to sex habits, it is very difficult to make it move in the elevating channels of meditation. Sex-addicted persons are very nervous and restless; their minds wander constantly on the plane of the senses, making it difficult to concentrate upon the inner peace that leads the consciousness to the all-intoxicating, ever new bliss of God-communion.
The vital essence lost in physical union contains untold atomic units of lifetronic intelligence and energy; the loss of this power, due to indiscriminate excesses, is extremely harmful to spiritual development. It exacerbates the outflow of life force through the lowest subtle center at the base of the spine, concentrating the consciousness on identification with the body and external sensory perceptions. When one is habituated to this state, no ascension of consciousness to the higher centers of spiritual realization and God-communion is possible. People who live on the sex plane with its momentary allurement and physical excitation cannot even imagine, much less desire to achieve, the incomparable bliss of Spirit in interiorized meditation.
