We have a better ability to watch the bodies reactions and responses when we are not eating.
The more I find myself free from the worlds demands the easier i find it to fast. That is one important reason we spend time on spiritual retreat or breaks from the routine. Otherwise we become like robots. There is so much that is spontaneous that will reveal to us about life when we give ourselves sometime alone or in the company of those who can practice interiorization with us..

I find that my sense of smell and my focus for developing a line of thought is more clear while
fasting. I believe this is because the body is free from the restless activiy of digesting food.

Fasting can take place in stages. That is why we call eating in the morning; break-fast. We break our fast from eating at nite.

To a great extent most of us know what it is to have food, sex and sleep. However do we know what experiences are to be had by refraining from our bodily needs?

Once I remember having an out-of-body experience while being deprived of sleep. While being
without sex for years I heard astral music regularly and being without food helped my powers of concentration in new and different ways...it also left me feeling more in control of this body and realizing how much we are slaves to our desires. Not that any of these things are bad in themselves but that we are not in control of our so called needs. We have become prisoners to our bodies.

My hope is that you and I can spend sometime on a a spiritual journey again where we could also spend sometime fasting.

This morning I was practicing the hong sau technique and then went on into the kriya's. I went up to about 28 kriyas and my stomach started feeling weird. It was because I just drank a smoothie about an hour before. I was surprised that such a little bit of food would affect me like that and my stomach. Just like you had said in the last statement Namaste2All.

Unlike many other meditation techniques, kriya is quite agressive in slowing the metabalism.
It is like a tug of war to practice many of them with food in your stomach.

I agree.  I think that giving the body a rest from the work it does to digest our food is a good idea. 

Some people actually try to fast one day a week, every week. 

It's probably a good idea to have a period of a few hours without food before sleep, some intimate activities, deep breathing, yoga, and some forms of meditation, too.

Your  presence is a unique contribution with your art contributions. They are missed. I miss California, yet Michigan is a welcome change from the congestion of all the people in southern California. Happy to see your interest in yoga/meditation purking up again.
