I doubt that everyone has had the same experience I have had with scientists. Yet for me; I have found that scientists are some of the most prejudice biased people I have ever met. They closed down what was going to be a psychic research center at the University i attended. They scoffed any approach at psychology that did not fit into their own. They degraded astrology by presenting a tabloid magazine interpretation of astrology and they called psychic events; superstitious behavior. I am just giving a few examples here.

Open minded and willing to use an empirical approach? I did not find this to be the case unless it supported their preconcieved ideas. Just warning young people from my own personal experience. Hope yours is different. I have not found scientists to be objective at all but very subjective in their outlooks.

I can still see a scientist/astronomer stand in a lecture hall full of possibly hundreds of students and pull out the Enquirer or Globe and read the description of 12 signs and he told everyone in the class that these descriptions were supposed to describe everyone into 12 categories and so instead of ridiculing astrology he showed his incredible ignorance. After class I told him I read something in one of those magazines that showed scientists discovered God in the clouds! He is not the only scientist I have heard use the tabloids to describe astrology.

Now i always go to the tabloids to understand science since i discovered that great scientists go to the tabloids to understand astrology. L O L

Science is like the Mother.  Creativity/Spirituality/Mysticism are like the Father of Humanity's intellectual growth.

2 sides to a coin.

I think where Scientists tend to go wrong is in arrogance and, sometimes, inability to analyze things which the group of "scientific authorities" would deem unacceptable to questions.  And they help use Understand the world better on the material plane.

So, when a Scientist is brave enough to share research which others would laugh at or be to scared of being judged themselves to even comment on, that is a true scientist!  Like Gallileo and all of the scientists who've been punished and made outcasts for their bravery of researching despite obstacles and potential dangers.

However, I do hope we one day live in a Society in which Scientific study and Artistic creativity are both treated with similar great importance.

I think any "scientist" who dismisses astrology based on a tabloid magazine is behaving foolishly.  That's called called a "straw man argument", and is the same kind of illogical, manipulative speech many politicians specialize in!

Steve, like zap says, scientists are men themselves and sin of arrogance. I might criticize all recent days' physics saying that it is all an hoax, and they wouldn't be able to retort. Simply because they cannot show me a Higgins Boson. They are going to show me elaborate formulas only a bunch of 'em understand, some plot resulting from their experiments which to me are are mere scribbles like those made by my son only my son makes them better.
So, in the wake of the Medieval philosopher Carneades, I might be legitimately be very skeptic and tell them they are just magicians pretending to be scientists.  Bad magicians to boot. How can they prove me they are not?

Some of'em have a big ego, they are university professors and let their ego bask in that delusory sun. Some of'em have a remarkable intellect but a tiny discrimination. Some of'em, have no bias at all but they must shush not to be harassed by the scientific community.

Some of'em, like the late Feynmann, are eccentric noble prizes which will mind nothing and express their ideas regardless. They are a tight minority.
