Sometimes we don't know when to act and how to act. When we're happy we just ack spontaneously as though it is a natural reaction, and sometimes others do not act in kind. If they don't we can just shrug our shoulders. It's all good anyhow.

Act - That's the key word, isn't it?

yes I believe so. there is creativity about it. an ability to open up to new situations and not let old worn out patterns govern our lives. the willingness to try something different that perhaps we have never done before. Seeing life thru the eyes of wonder. the wonder of what is happening around us. the ability to reinvent our lives. every moment and every person and event that comes into our life carries this majic. if we can just get beyond our idea of who we are and what we expect to happen.  flow with the moment and let everything unfold without our own personal  positions and attitudes interefering.

What i have noticed about being around a Master or someone that has a strong connection with spirit is that there is always a spontaneity there. You never really know what to expect next because these people are in tune with a higher reality and they may really surprise you. That is part of the awakening process of being in their presence. Although we can see this quality arising from time to time in those we are privileged to b in the company of.

If things start happening don't worry, don't stew, just go right along and you'll start happening too.

I just woke up and remember a dream I had while sleeping. Sometimes dreams give us spiritual messages. This one did. I have a very good friend and he is quite an engineer. He is very good at planning things out and procedure. He is much like an engineer. I have learned to appreciate his talent for being this way. He is also a problem solver.

We also need to understand the importance and genius that can also come out of being spontaneous and not making plans. In my dream I met someone and just hopped in the car with her when invited and started riding along. At some point I told her that I had no way of getting back to my car unless she took me back to it. I also somewhat apologetically told her that I had an appointment in about an hour with someone. She expressed the idea that it was important to keep commitments with schedules with others. I agreed but also mentioned that I could call and cancel the appointment. Thinking that sometimes we may just have one opportunity to really meet and get to know what would otherwise remain a stranger.

We ended up at her house having quite a comfortable conversation and then she suddenly said she wanted to take a break. I was struck by the unusualness of her behavior and she sat on the staircase wearing ear phones and listening to music while casually reading something. I was struck by the spontaneous nature of her finding a quiet moment to herself. I often do this myself but am so grateful I have found meditation techniques from both Yogananda and Amma that can give me moments in silence alone to have a break from the world.

You need to shut the hell up and go meditate.

Everyone has  rite to their oppinon but most of us here do not express it rudely to other members.
Kindness is a quality that comes from years of meditation. A practice that I believe you promote. Perhaps you are rite B R O C K  I enjoy the practice more then disagreeing with you here on the subject. Are you getting some good meditation practice in these days friend? It has been quite a while since I have heard from you.

I can't be good, Steve! I have a devilish side to my nature. Maybe if I keep practicing someday I'll be good!!

I just got back from a retreat in north Alabama hosted by some local Buddhist friends. It was really beautiful. How have you been?

I just wrote about Dukkha under the heading ‘Buddhism’ here on the forum. It could be more important then being ‘good’ as you mentioned here. Because of the idea of suffering we hope for absence of self (anatta)— which constitutes the “right knowledge.”  What I have noticed in spiritual instruction from Masters over the yrs. is that the concepts of good and bad are often limiting and often spiritual discipline is implemented by its effectiveness rather then its kindness.

I miss meditation sessions with Buddhists i at one time had while living in a larger city. Would be interested in what you experienced with your friends. I seem to be working out some desires associated with the playing and performance of music presently. However i communicate here to reinforce my practice of meditation and hopefully influence others in that practice.
