There is something about love , spirituality, a deep sense of silence and a depth of feeling that r all alike. They bring a deep sense of stillness. No doubt many of you have experienced it. Some people even misinterpret it if you are with them and you are experiencing that state of being. But for a time anything we or they would say would break the spell. Because you are perfectly content with being.

I experienced that state once when I was touched in the heart by guru. Sometimes it can be felt in nature when this ecstacy unites you with the awe of a spiritual connection with the divine presence of God in nature. I have felt it when someone connects with my inner spirit and proves it with an inner knowing. It has happened during meditation. Lastly it has happened to me with someone I have had past life connections with or who I felt a tremendous love for. Suddenly no words could express the feelings that we have between each other.

"Those who enter that temple of silence are able to commune with other God-bent souls; they comprehend the conversation of flowers and of all living creatures." ~Paramahansa Yogananda

The deeper we go into the great silence the more we become in tune with that wonderful tranquility that is spirit. It requires all the attention and focus of the mind. Otherwise the mind will not be still but will continue with its endless macrame of thoughts that endlessly invade consciousness and give us little or know peace. So how do we get beyond mind? The yogis and other paths have given us methods and techniques to transcend thoughts. If we do not accept their teachings we must develop our own or seek out methods elsewhere. Otherwise we will be doomed to endless daydreaming and at other times sleep and dreams during meditation. It is helpful to recognize that just like any other disciplines; there are people we can learn from. These are Masters and Spiritual Guides who we can be very grateful for their help and encouragement.

Sometimes its better not to say much of anything. People often process your words thru the filter of their own mind and often hear what they want to...not necessarily what you have said.

i find it is helpful to change my schedule around from time to time to experience different times of the day and nite. i went to sleep early last nite and woke up before the Sun brightened up the day. It was was so quiet that i went out to the back yard and started a fire. i sat there meditating and realized how much the silence affects your own mind. There are so many activities during the day and we are influenced in our restless minds activities with the views of our friends, the news and all the thoughts we have surrounding work and family.  It gives us little time to explore other dimensions but instead we are just caught up in the material dimension.

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan

All that the prophet comes to give is not given to the world in words, but all that cannot be given in words is given without words. It is given through the atmosphere; it is given by the presence; it is given by the great affection that gushes forth from his heart; it is given in his kind glance; and it is given in his benediction. Yet most is given in silence that no earthly sense can perceive.

Not very long ago in Hyderabad there was a mureed, rather an intellectual pupil, and he liked to talk. His teacher was interested in his intelligent inquiries, and so he encouraged him to talk, whereas it is the custom in the East for the pupil to remain silent before his teacher. One day the teacher was in a condition of exaltation and his pupil as usual wanted to discuss and argue, which was not agreeable to the teacher at that time. He said in Persian, 'Khamosh,' which means silence. And the pupil became silent; he went home and remained silent. And no one heard him speak after that, no one in the house nor outside; he never spoke anywhere. Years passed by and the man still kept silent. But there came a time when his silence began to speak aloud. His silent thought would manifest and his silent wish would become granted; his silent glance would heal, his silent look would inspire. His silence became living. It was the spoken words, which had kept him dead all this time. The moment the lips were closed the silence in him began to live. His presence was living.

Silence is something which consciously or unconsciously we are seeking every moment of our lives. We are seeking silence and running away from it, both at he same time. Where is the word of God heard? In silence. The seers, the saints, the sages, the prophets, the masters, they have heard that voice which comes from within by making themselves silent. I do not mean by this that because one has silence one will be spoken to; I mean that once one is silent one will hear the word, which is constantly coming from within.

When the mind has been made still, a person also communicates with everyone he meets. He does not need many words: when the glance meets he understands. Two persons may talk and discuss all their lives and yet never understand one another. Two others with still minds look at one another and in one moment a communication is established between them. Where do the differences between people come from? From within. From their activity. And how does agreement come? By the stillness of the mind.
