Been staying slim and in shape. How?

1. No desserts
2. Keeping away from a wheat based diet... which turns to sugar and then fat.
3. No meat. Nothing killed.... total vegetarian.
4. Exercise
5. Avoid continuous dairy products.
6. Eat more and more fresh fruits and vegetables and some nuts and nut butters.
7. Make many fruit based smoothies.
8. Rely more and more on cosmic energy from air and sunlight. Practice energization exercises regularly.
9. Practice more meditation so that interest becomes more and more on inner life and not on feeding the senses.
10. Enjoy waking up. Breathing fresh air and meditation which all contribute to less thoughts about waking up immediately to a big breakfast.
11. Get outside and run or swim when possible.
12. Practice hatha yogi when possible.
13. Practice Amma's 'iam' when possible.
14. Practice Paramahansa Yogananda's suggestions on staying slim.. including walking and running in place as described in the SRF lessons and stomach lifts.
15. Watch weight scales regularly and find out what is adding unwanted fat.
16. More liquids - less solids
17. Avoid eating a lot before bed time.
18. Less big meals - graze more throughout day.

Do u have something to add to this? Please make suggestions.

Steve, that's an exhausting list on generally healthy habits.

The specific slimness issue may tricky though

Some people like myself find very difficult not to be slim

Some others, even if eating sparingly, find it very difficult to loose weight.

Being a little overweight though does not mean being unhealthy. Also, I take it may be a desirable feature in long distance swimming.

Common sense suggestions like those you listed are good to loose weight in many cases, in the most difficult cases though either extreme will power must be exercised or very specific remedies (diets) adopted.

take 30 minutes out of the 24 hour day to walk. try to walk every day.

you may also find motivation in joining a specific class. for example, i recently joined a bikram yoga class. it's awesome, meditative, and having others around me doing the same thing really helps you keep focused and feel good when you leave the class.

take what you learned from the class and try to apply it at home... my girlfriend did a cycling class recently too. joining something specific over a random gym has helped us more in our efforts to stay fit

ive only 3 bikram yoga classes but am loving it more and more.
the teacher calls me a new yogi. it is becoming a meditative and healing experience for me. at the end she provides affirmations and allows us the space to meditate- sometimes for an hour which is nice.
going to a place and enforcing the practice is what helps the mentality stay in shape... keeping awareness and encouraging you to try and eat less or spend wisely and eat the right type of foods even

grant it every person is different... i will say... getting involved helps enforce a positive mentality and a stronger will

Sometimes we loose or gain weight with no apparent reason or a little significant reason.

At the beginning of the year I had to stay without any exercise for 2.5 months, because of a sore rib and a small surgery. Not that I exercise much, but I run almost daily and do some other slight things, energization, very little bench press, gardening chores when necessary.
In the latest 10 years I had difficulties in not loosing weight. The opposite problem of what is described in this thread.

After the above period of inactivity, I gained about 10 pounds, with the same diet. Then I started again running and doing the rest as before, but I'm not shedding any weight.

It is welcome news to me who was complaining about being too slim, but I really wonder about the misterious bodily mechanisms at work.

I would add to the original list,

No processed food, that includes sugars and flours. All that boxed food with all those ingredients you cant pronounce. And do away with the powdered supplements and so called health bars and drinks. It's all BS.

Just eat quality fruit, vegetables, nuts, try a ripe mango. Go find some blueberries and pick tons then freeze them.

And the organic angle, I talked to a guy who runs an organic produce store that said, most of the time, in this country, fruits that are marked as NON organic can be even cleaner, since the rules for being able to label things as organic are a bit lax. So it's become a marketing cash cow, of course.

i find that if I have stimulating encounters with people-i have less desire to eat and when I am stimulated visually or in a tactile audio-wise or otherwise I have l less desire to eat. It is not so hard to really figure it out though. If you eat a lot of dairy products and wheat products you will gain weight. I will not even include meat because it is out of the question. But you can drink instead of eating so much because usually  it can help u feel somewhat filled when you want to eat. No more desserts. That was ended many decades ago.

Desserts made out of wholesome foods may be good (for example, whole grain cereals, honey or dried fruits, almonds...).

Desserts made with White flower, White sugar and various fats are the worse, healthwise. Pure junk.

Oftentimes a dessert I enjoy is wholegrain bread, butter and honey, or dried fruit and nuts.

Oh yea! Perhaps we just have to change r definition of such things to include what is good for us.
