Hi Steve ….. I've heard that Michigan is very beautiful with lots of lakes, right ?

Yes, we can swim in the ocean here, during the Summer, but you have to be a bit brave, LOL.    I used to do it when I was younger, but that was a while ago !     It's actually quite warm up the coast though, in the Parksville/Qualicum area.    I used to have summer holidays there and swim quite a lot.   Some areas are also good for surfing, like our Long Beach which is right on the west coast of the Island.    All in all it's a really nice place to live.   So much nature everywhere, which I really like.   Smiley

I could never swim in the Pacific Ocean north of San Francisco. Santa Cruz was the last warm swimming place. So i wonder if where u live is somehow sheltered or has different currents. I used to have a thermostat  wrist watch so I knew just what temperature was tolerable. Once i swam in very cold water when it was very hot outside : 52 degrees. Generally speaking though; my legs start numbing up if the water is below 58°f. However when I am speaking of swimming i mean quite long distances even perhaps a mile.

Yes there are many Lakes in Michigan including the Great  Lakes which you cannot see across. The Lakes are just now starting to be tolerable. In a week or two I intend on doing a lot of swimming all the way to October sometime. Usually you are unable to get in lakes here till May but I do remember swimming in a Lake as early as late April.

it always seem like after a refreshing swim you could be more conscious of the breath and latch on to it so it always helped my meditation a bit more. The baptism of the water refreshes you and makes you more aware of your surroundings especially your inner cosciousness. Even if the water is very cold you can dip in and it has the effect of bringing your breath way in and out and the awareness is drawn there.  The invigoration of the water keeps you more awake... instead of being lethargic, dreamy and unattentive.
