I looked at Sutra 1 today.

Parambrahma (Spirit or God) is everlasting, complete, without beginning or end. It is one, indivisible Being.

He uses the quote from the Bible "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

I believe that many people do not know that the Bible defines faith that way.

Hebrews 11:1New International Version (NIV)

Faith in Action
11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

The almighty force  sakti  or  in other words the Enternal Joy,  Ananda which produces the world; and the omniscient feeling chit which makes this world conscious demonstrate the nature, Prakrita of God the Father.

I believe when we feel this joy and this feeling in meditation we are beginning to get in touch with God's nature.

Quote
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Even when God gives examples, something you could see or touch in the physical world, later after it has "wore off", people will again doubt.

So faith seems to be more than just things not seen, maybe it's also a continuing hope no matter what happens, good or bad, proof or none.

Rather than hope, I would define faith a working hypothesis on which we bet a very substantial sum of our energies.

Of course we have some data upon which we base our wage. But it is after all a wage, which actually is based upon the hope of a win, so I realize that we get back to the concept of hope.
