Waking up in the middle of the nite or right before dawn often gives you that silence you look for in meditation.
The spiritual force is stronger in the golden hour at dusk and dawn.

I attempt to go to sleep earlier so I can wake up earlier when it is still quiet and nothing is happening to disturb meditation practice. Also find it is better to go back to sleep a bit if restless thoughts bring my energies into the lower chakras. It’s all a matter of balance. Sometimes practical matters out weigh the ability to find time to meditate very long. This life has many pressures, if it did not who would think of better places to be? This place was not meant to be a permanent home. But many people mistake this notion for a negative attitude toward life; when in reality it is an attitude that has been developed by an old soul recognizing the purpose of life, which is not to satisfy endless desires arising from new and different temptations every lifetime.

Sleep interiorizes the thoughts and consciousness, when too much static bombards the mind. Sleep is an unconscious meditation, because it withdraws the consciousness away from the outer body sensations and into the spine. Meditation is conscious withdrawal of the the senses. Yet it is difficult to meditate with little sleep. And the consciousness is refreshed by a rested body.

I love waking up in the middle of the nite or at that quiet moment before dawn when the world is asleep but we are alive in spirit and connected by a strong thread in our spine going up and down to the rhythm of the breath. Meditation gives us peace. The peace of morning and late nite. The golden hour before dawn, that is the closest reflection of the afterglow of sweet meditation.
