I plead guilty to deleting many of my old posts. I find myself reading embarrassing tirades and vain sermons I have written. It is a humbling experience to read old posts, for sure. But I also find myself having the power to delete them from the public domain. I hope no one is offended by me taking advantage of the opportunity. The posts I chose to delete offered nothing of value, in my opinion, to the forum. Instead they were mostly undigested thoughts that got spewed. As a global moderator, I took some actions.  Cool

Thanks for your acknowledgements b. It seems to me that we can delete posts for anyone if they want them deleted. However i have tried to refrain from deleting other peoples posts unless they have asked. i do remember this happening though because there were vulgarities throughout certain posts and i have deleted a few of my own posts i felt were derogatory towards others. i do not have the answers here. i know it is nice to look back at how we have grown and accept the past as something we have learned from. There are surely some things in the past of most people that they would just feel better about not having someone digging through them and exposing themselves to someone and something that they no longer express... reinforcing past tendencies while not being able to move on to the present and future. No doubt that is what God had in mind when he has us leave the shores of this life and start anew in a different incarnation. Many of us can relate to incarnations in this life as well.

Not taking away from your comments b.....i do think that it is the very quality of vulnerability and openness that Eric expresses that is quite a feat in itself to manifest in a public domain. i have always been in awe of public figures that openly admit their mistakes so that we can learn from them. It is a quality that i admire and aspire to. It is only when we can read them and see the changes that we r able to find examples for us in our own modeling. i think that Paramahansa Yogananda was quite good at this in the Autobiography of a Yogi. He was able to show how he grew and changed into what he became through his interaction with others and primarily his Gurus training. Without seeing some of his struggles many of us would just write him off as someone that is perfect and we will never be able to reach such heights. Seeing some of the various human mistakes and challenges others face can help us with our own journey.

Yes Steve, your point is a good one. I recognize the desire to delete things I've said online (other places too) is largely egoistic - not wanting to have embarrassing things floating around.  Cheesy Of course, we all change and grow over time. I think it really is necessary to be able to look at things we have done and said with objective humility and not pretend as if it never happened. I looked, felt humbled, and then deleted! lol  Cheesy

I sense a possible thread-worthy topic here. But I have to run for now. Peace.

Now I'm wondering what I missed, must've been good.

Si i cannot even begin to tell u what u have missed on this forum maybe Eric would b able to better. i know that sometimes it is very difficult to go back and read some of the experiences i have had with other people that were close with me. There r people here that i have loved very dearly who r no longer with us. i have no reservations about having any of those people back. But they have gone their separate ways. Not because of my decision. This life can often b very painful to realize the memories we have had with others may b gone forever. We r just fortunate to have people here to create new ones. Because the love and deep caring i have for everyone that has been here still remains. Every one of them. That is something i am sincere about.

i suppose this kind of answer was not what u expected or even wanted. It is just something u said that triggered the response. i can go back to where i lived as a teenager and all kinds of nostalgic memories return and going back to old posts and threads here is somewhat akin to going back to a town you grew up in and driving down the streets with an old friend you at one time shared memories with there. That is something i recently did. It was cathartic.
