I think it's okay to judge others as we are judged every moment and in every interaction with life around us.

It seems inevitable.

With that being said, I think it fair to say some people struggle more then others...

I.e, environment, upbringing, physically and mentally.

Do you think it's right to compare people's suffering against one another ??

Of course we try to look to all suffering with compassion, kindness and forgiveness.... however... sometimes that "compassion" translates to that of patting a dog on the head... as if to say, there there..

If we are able to judge others in an objective and detached way, that would be a useful ability. In judging the behaviour of others we should also be able to carry out a detached comparative analysis and judge our own behaviour.

i noticed that there r many definitions of judgement. So for me it depends on what definition of the word u r using. As u know words are symbols. We use symbols as human beings to denote various metaphors for various things and ideas. This is language. We often have to define what is in our head as a meaning of a word before we can understand just how someone else views things. Using the definitions below i would not want to judge people. Using other definitions i may want to.

 1.
the estimate by God of the ultimate worthiness or unworthiness of the individual (the Particular Judgment) or of all mankind (the General Judgment or Last Judgment)
2.
God's subsequent decision determining the final destinies of all individuals

hi Steve,

I guess that depends on your belief system. if you are made in gods image then god condemns and condones quite regularly.

I agree with you Mccoy. Although I think it's easy to compare yourself with others and use that as an internal guide to better yourself but harder to actually act on any assessment in the heat of the moment.....

(((Huh?)))

Well now that depends on what u see as being an expression of God. i do not remember Amma condemning anyone nor do i remember condemnation coming from any remarks from Paramahansa Yogananada. Do i stand corrected on this?

Hi Steve.

I can't say but I see where you're coming from. I can argue the same when I think of a Mothers or Fathers Love for their child.

Cheers!

Mercy is above this sceptred sway, It is enthroned in the hearts of kings, It is an attribute to God himself; And earthly power doth then show likest God's When mercy seasons justice.
