Thanks mccoy....it will take sometime. One of the things we recognize after being on this 🌎 a while is that life is not as black and white as we initially have it figured out to b and many of the people and things we encounter are in fact not as good for us as we initially had thought but then in contradistinction to this we find that many of the things we thought to be difficult and bad for us end up being the best thing for us and just what we needed. So i am not always a fan of using will power but more often a fan of surrendering to divine will. As we have witnessed many times the Masters have proclaimed the time of their transition...seeming to know divine order and the best time to move on to other places where God has further plans for us. In which case staying here literally delays such opportunities and duties.

No shock. No engulfment. No tearing assunder. What you feared would come like an explosion is like a whisper. What you thought was the end is the beginning.

thank you steve for your thoughts and thank you brock for sharing what you've learned. i'll let it go after this but brock, the sleeping mind is still a mind with an on switch. maybe passing in your sleep isn't so bad...? but witnessing yourself shut down is still mind boggling.

i think maybe meditation helps with passing away. i think learning to be selfless helps. who knows... maybe we're born so we can learn how to die (among other things...)

Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,
It seems to me most strange that men should fear;
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come.

That seems to be a prerogative of masters alone, not uf us lowly mortals.

It may be that we just need to tune in to the divine plan better so we also know our time and purpose. In reality we are divine beings not lowly mortals. We are Gods children and we have to reclaim our true heritage as sons and daughters of the divine.

Steve, I agree substantially, although we still remain unrealized souls, so until we realize our immortality we still don the garb of lowly mortals.

No doubt we may have a lot to work on if we are going to attain our potential. Can't we start with not demeaning our true nature?

Man must realize he is not a fleshly being. Nor should we categorize ourselves as Hindu or Americans or any other conception we may have of ourselves that is limiting and sense bound. It is wrong of us to say that we are mortals when we are essentially made of immortal stuff. It is truth that we are God's, and it is error to call ourselves weaklings. Only by realizing our oneness with God may we completely break our self-created imaginary limitations of accidents, failure, lack, dis-ease, and death. God has everything--health, efficiency, wisdom, love, joy--and to be one with Him is to have, as his own child, access to everything that he has. - Paramahansa Yogananda

Again, easier said than done. My remark is not something negative, rather an observation stemmed from experience. It's not like actuating a switch. I wish it. That's something which is extremely difficult and which is achieved after lives of dedicated efforts. That's a condition we must actually reach, not something we can think about and our mere thinking makes it true.

To the contrary, I would argue that it is precisely the mere thinking which does make all the difference. That is the meaning we should take from self-created imaginary limitations. Where else do these limitations exist if not in the mind, and how else are they created if not by thinking? Yogananda himself is reported to have said that if you said with conviction that you were free you would be. Someone pressed him, "But of course, it wouldn't be that easy would it?" Yogananda pointed out that the very question itself revealed the problem. (source is conversations with Yogananda, a book I no longer have)

Which is entirely in the mind. If not there, then where?

If not now, then when?

Yogananda himself also said that evolution was just a suggestion in the mind (same book). So, you can be pretty sure that you aren't actually getting anywhere.
