Steve, the throat thing is an occasional event but the brain construes it as suffocation so there is not much to do about it. I believe it's some excess mucus in the larynnx. Luckily it is rare or occasional.
Sometimes I will find my legs fall asleep when I am meditating the circulation slows down which is can be painful if we do not move them. Sometimes also I find it if my back is at all curved and not completely straight that I feel pains in my lower back after some time meditating. These are conditions that most of us deal with probably at some point in our meditation. Everybody might be a little bit different in their personal challenges.
