It is sad but true that we cannot be rite all the time nor can others we have met make the rite choices and be rite. I have had people tell me they were sorry and they just made mistakes about me and I have also found it true about myself with others. Apologies always help even though we may not be completely to blame. If once in while I meet people who are cold and unfeeling towards me and others I remember all of the people I met who were true guardians and friends.

Sorry I haven't found time to engage with this thread. For now, let me upvote Steve's post above.  You will often hear people in casual conversation take this line, "But nothing else works."

Well, define "works". Capitalism might work quite well for some but it sure is a raw deal for a lot of others.

Have to run for now.

My immediate response to this is that until people see other souls around them and see everything as an emanation of the divine they will feel that they are somehow privileged to have much more. It is a sense of entitlement. Most people that have this mindset are so hopelessly lost that there is literally no hope for enlightenment or spiritual progress this lifetime. Take for instance Donald Trump. There is so much ego, self centeredness and thin skinned behavior that their would be no way to see him beyond his gold adorned armchairs, fixtures and casinos and lewd remarks. It would be much more fortunate to have less materially speaking and a developed spiritual life. So capitalism works for him only as a vehicle of spiritual ignorance. It is sad to have such a leader of the 'free world' when this is an example of leadership. Look to a leader like Mahatma Gandhi and the contrast is just overwhelming.

For someone else the free enterprise system is a vehicle to help others and improve their own standard of living. I have seen it in many wealthy people who have helped saints and masters spread their message and others with many other worthy causes for humanity. However in a man like Donald Trump we see someone who boasts about his material wealth and has used it for his own self-aggrandizement and desires. We have only to look to the massive edifaces that he lives in and the wealth he surrounds himself with, while in the process the environment has been destroyed and will be destroyed with gambling holes and paved parking lots. Trump will eventually cause destruction by a misguided idea of progress with mother nature herself giving the verdict-with global warming-because of an ignorant view of the harm human beings are doing to their environment.  At the same time his brothers and sisters are begging for food on street corners we see a hopeless image of a leader for the people of the world to look up too. Is this what we want to promote and develop in our own character? This is the kind of leader that Rome looked up to with Coligula and Nero. This represents a society in decay.

Hi Steve. I think there is a misunderstanding of Donald Trump as well. It seem a difficult task to live in this awareness... that is, to see God and feel the depths of Gods love with all life. It would seem from an enlightened perspective that one would love Trump and understand his role as fated. As spiritual aspirants we realize there's more than meets the eye.

That's a very small list that you or I could put together Eric. Even a little good is better then no good. To those who have much is required. I have seen many people in my life with much less, financially speaking, who have given much more and without the arrogance and egotism. When Trump starts talking about how he is going to really help poverty and the environment then I will listen. Until then I only hear cacophony. Do we need to speak about our actions? These words are not impressive. It is a pity that he has so little to speak of with so much wealth at his disposal. I have met many people in my life who have given much much more and they had less materially speaking and did not have the wealth and power that Trump can use against us and our country.

No one is all bad, all the time. Those are some very nice things Trump did there. I don't think the man is consciously evil, just ignorant and privileged. None of those nice things qualifies him to run the country, unfortunately. Shall we send him a cookie? I am glad he did those nice things but I am annoyed that you think it matters.

a) No one is all bad.

b) That's not the point.

c) This is boring

Sounds like you know some of the Michael Jordans of giving Steve. Even that is an egoistic thing. Who gives the most...lol

A king gives to feel powerful, playing god. He giveth, he taketh away, and all that.

The dominant monkey gives out bananas or something to prove his dominance. I could swear I read that somewhere.

http://listdose.co/10-good-things-about-hitler-you-didnt-know/

Seeing some good things Adolf Hitler did we could hope to also find a few redeeming qualities in Adolf Trump. Since his ignorance about global warming could very easily cause the destruction of the human race the two may rival each other in destructive potential. If Trump keeps his policies on the environment he could easily be known as the most destructive man in history of civilization and the earth. He is appropriately put under the topic 'Misunderstanding'. Thanks Eric.

lol

Hitler was a vegetarian and loved his dog.

Most destructive man in history? Assuming they'll be around and able to remember and talk about it. It could be one of those really nihilistic situations where he just plunges shreiking into the void carrying human life as we know it along into the quiet darkness.

In any case, I don't think it would be Trump's fault alone. He is just a reality TV star. Rather, it would be a collective indictment of the human species. We would simply wipe ourselves out and receive a Darwin award. The democrats aren't much better, since they helped elect Trump. Fate maybe, as Eric said, or...karma...stupidity?...call it what you will.

hello. we have different beliefs about the president elect mr. trump but my earlier post is not meant to suade your opinion or count the list of right or wrong doings of this one person. that post was recognition of your original one. some would rather count the wrong doings of another man, this in itself seem a misunderstanding since a judgement is often made with bias. we can't be right all the time nor can we expect to have a person figured out sitting from the sidelines. steve you started your original post saying this is a sad truth, on the contrary my friend, it's a blessing. i know you know this because i've seen you say the same thing.  Smiley

Eric I apologize but I am having difficulty understanding what you are saying. I made the comment that it is a sad truth that we can't be right all the time and we make mistakes. Do you mean that is a blessing? I also said that apologizing often clears the air between people. Even though in many, if not most cases, no one is entirely right or wrong. I believe that as spiritual beings we should recognize that we attract what is part of us so we should take some responsibility for all our encounters with those we spend time with.

I do believe that there is a time we must assess what a person has done and what side we will take. This was obviously true in the case of Hitler. There were many who recognized that he was not helping Germany and were working against him in for instance the Catholic Resistance Movement. I believe that I also recognized this about the slaves in the south during the civil war. Thus working for the underground railroad I was considered a traitor by the south. History has shown that General Lee and Jefferson Davis made a very bad mistake in the legitimacy of slavery. Someone there at the time had to make such a judgement or have no backbone or moral integrity.

Now when a man comes out saying that global warming is a hoax and that we need global warming to heat up the winters in New York.... at that time I am no longer 'sitting on the sidelines'.  His view is quite clear and it conflicts with almost all the scientific community. He is talking about the very survival of a civilization and its imminent destruction. We are talking about our very survival which he is willing to put  at risk. Yes I am willing to make a judgement in this case. If I don't and we don't history will judge us as fools for not taking a position on our survival.

There have been many times in history when people were doing morally unacceptable things to others and they had a view that supported it. We have a different views in history. It is to work against slavery, work against the killing of Jews and in this case work against a leader who would destroy our very existence on this planet.
