I think this implies meditation is a way eliminate the fantasies...  different "awakened" or "enlightened" ones have different advice to get there (different boats float in different castle moats... or whatever the saying is, ha)...

Bhagavad Gita (or was that the Buddha? or Tao? all 3?) says something to the effect of how enlightenment involves having great success or failure in the eyes of the world and being equally unaffected by either as an ideal state...
