Caught up in the world

Why do we constantly get caught up in the world when our happiness is so close to us? I have been thinking about this off and on most of my life but lately even more. Because I am more aware of the tricks that our emotions, feelings and our mind play on us after years of meditation. That awareness we develop in meditation follows us through the day. We begin to realize how we have opened endless doors that lead to more lonely hallways. The lite we carry with us lites up the main corridor we are walking thru called life. We just have to constantly fan the flame we have started. At times the flame we have started is very warm and large at other times the world sends cold winds that blow our flame to a small embers; then we have to gather kindling again and fan the embers to get our flame going once again.
