As a creature of light, it should come as no surprise that the firefly is a symbol of illumination. They truly are majestic, under-appreciated insects because of their ordinary, uninspiring appearance during the daytime hours.

I can say that last night when I saw the fireflies all around me I did feel illumination about someone I know and had this insight; sometimes we must be lost to the known so we can welcome the unknown. Perhaps it applies to me as well.
