Let us briefly consider the Jupiter Saturn cycle in astrology. In December 2020, Jupiter and Saturn reach a conjunction at o° Aquarius 31′. Because of the importance of this conjunction, which initiates for each person a significant 20-year process, I offer this brief discussion of the Jupiter Saturn cycle. In ancient times the cycle of these two planets were used to predict momentous collective events, especially events affecting kings and kingdoms. It has a long history of usage in the astrological tradition. In the book, Mundane Astrology, Charles Harvey writes:

These two planets used to be known as the “Great Chronocrators,” or rulers of the ages. Their cycle can be considered the ground base of human development which marks the interaction between the perception of ideas, potentialities, possibilities (Jupiter) and their manifestation in the concrete material world (Saturn). (1)

Jupiter and Saturn are the planetary pair that refers to the urge to find a mode of meaningful participation in social living. Alexander Ruperti called Jupiter and Saturn the planets of social destiny (2). Jupiter and Saturn are concerned with the formation of our sense of social purpose and direction, our quest for concrete achievements in the world. They are the planets most concerned with vocational development, the development of our occupation and our pursuit of success. They are the planets of positive, constructive social activity. The ongoing relationship between these two planets marks major phases of our developing life’s work, and the conjunction, in particular, is a time when we can form a new sense of social purpose or direction. All students and practitioners of astrology should give deep thought to this most significant event, the conjunction in December 2020.

Jupiter conjunct Saturn is also known as the Great Conjunction that happens on average every 19 years. Throughout history, it has been closely observed by astrologers and been linked to the rise and fall of royalty, leaders, and great people. Some believe that the biblical “Star of Bethlehem” was the great conjunction of 7 B.C. [1]

According to astrologer Daniel T. Ferrera, when a great conjunction occurs during an election or inauguration year, the president is likely to die in office. [2] The table at the end of this article shows this has been the case since 1940, except for the last two great conjunctions. However, there were assassination attempts against both those presidents.

The next great conjunction is on December 21, 2020. The next United States presidential election is on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. President Donald Trump is seeking reelection to a second term. Before I show the chart for Jupiter conjunct Saturn 2020 I will discuss the natal aspect and then Jupiter conjunct Saturn transit.

Eric; Although you have alluded to the in depth interpretations of Edith Hathaway which I still have much to incorporate in my understanding.... at the time I am more inclined to resonate with the view above and that this period while it can be looked upon as the fall of the newly elect president... I believe it is more likely it is indicative of the fall of the last president that began at the winter solstice and continues as Jupiter and Saturn have now entered Aquarius (tropical) marking the death of old ideas and the dawn of new ideas. Regardless if the interpretation is more along the lines of Judith Hathaway or what I have promoted here there is much to be gained from the planetary conjunction of these two planets. And I sincerely appreciate the insights of both Swami ( Swami Vidyadhishananda ) and Edith Hathaway you have provided here under the thread Edith Hathaway and the link you left there.

Here we are looking at the results of the election and although I have made many mistakes in life it appears as though I predicted this election correctly. However I still intend on using much of the wisdom and planetary cycles of planets (specifically Jupiter and Saturn) to continue my interest and discussion of Edith Hathaway and her views and knowledge of astrology because I think she has contributed immensely to this subject. I think it is important to recognize that we do not have to agree on a subject (including astrology and politics) to learn much from one another.

What has been in my thoughts many times through the years is that Masters themselves emphasize certain aspects of life and interests and experiences others emphasize other aspects. We at times may think that their views may contradict one another. We can even see this within the same religion. For instance the views of the Old Testament are certainly different then those of the New Testament. But I am less likely to be critical of such factors today then say 15 or 20 years ago. This is because I have found that through a deeper understanding, in this material dimension of duality it is very difficult to state precise laws that can be applied to every situation. Until we are able to rise above the mental faculties it is difficult to understand how the rules of the universe work and how to apply them in a given situation.
