We are now seeing the results of confrontational rhetoric between the U.S> and North Korea. i think it is quite clear that Obama's approach led to less escalation. He simply ignored Kim Jung Un. We have seen though that Trump has spread fire to the flame. It seems like more and more in life i have found it is best not to confront friends with escalating language. In this situation with world leaders it does not seem to help either.

actually Steve plenty of presidents including Obama have grilled North Korea, we just don't have the media attacking previous presidents the way we do today. That's just my opinion

As u know president obama was constantly attacked by the likes of Trump and he actually tried to demean his character by claiming he wasn't an American citizen. Obama got more done and he had a Republican congress. But Trump did this to everyone who disagreed with him. To John McCain to Jeb Bush to Hillary Clinton and your Texas senator; Ted Cruz. This is the main reason he cannot get anything passed in congress despite having Republican control. He is  reprehensible even his own party members feel that way...besides his programs proposals only hurt people not help as Susan Collins (R) from Maine will tell you. Trumps approach is usually confrontational and that is the style he has crafted for himself and he explains in his book 'The Art of a Deal' and this is why he is so unsuccessful as a human being and cannot negotiate anything as president. He is the classic example of a school bully. There is no better president to use as an example of what not to be to be spiritual then egotistical and narcissistic Donald Trump. There is no human being today that is a better example of how confrontational language does not work then Donald Trump.

so messed up. there's an instability, oppression and greed that's evident not just with north korea but all over. i wonder what one is to do when a nation that stands for liberty has active interest in nations that practice totalitarianism. this kind of blends with your thread about the prime directive theory. still, for how long and how much have we invested in area's of the world that are in direct contrast to the idea of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Can we still stand without these investments and can politicians that lie through their teeth help liberate other nations?
