I want to experience more but at times I feel very vulnerable and I get anxious when the activity becomes real.. I understand now more than before the importance of meditation, the breath and even reciting prayers and mantras during these moments.

Two nights ago I was combatting the flu(again). I had a toothache that sent pain up to my eye. I went to bed early and as I layed there I felt the same sensations I remembered as a kid. It felt like someone was in my room. I also tried sleeping in a different position this night. I remember saying I’m not in the mood for this and asked to be left alone but the feelings persisted and I started getting this ringing in my ear. I continued to try and shut it out but even heard things moving about in my room- like maybe this spirit was getting restless. I couldn’t fall asleep. I became terrified and anxious. I recited prayers suggested by my friends. When I did this alongside a protective mantra playing in the background I noticed a thin line of blue light appear then disappear. After it vanished I began to calm down. I slept with the mantra playing all night.

I really wish I wasn’t so afraid sometimes but when things become all too real and I feel extremely vulnerable. It could have been the weakened immune system and the new sleeping position but my anxiety kicked into overdrive. It isn't always like this. Fear of the unknown is a real thing but I wish to experience more of it. Not much to say here... I don’t think the spirit was, “bad” I think f I tried to be open to this energy I could have received something positive... not sure. I’m going to keep trying and hope I get another attempt at establishing a connection.

Some of us may be 'gifted' by being able to connect with and sense the presence of spirits and people. Others can hone in on this skill by meditation. I was meditating today and heard nothing but 'felt' the presence of something in the room. I opened my eyes and someone had entered the room. I often develop the skill by trying to sense presences around during the day. Often when i 'feel' someone starring i look around and sure enough there will be someone there. It is just something that needs development in us all....to experience our surroundings with more acuity.

Yes, much like knowing your way around a dark room. If you know the room, you can walk around it easily... If you are unfamiliar with the room well, much more caution is taken as you worry you may run into something. I imagine it's the same when facing these irregular energetic phenomena... Maybe, if I experience this more the feeling of being anxious or scared will go away. I sure hope so... I'd like to keep experiencing these things. A good friend advised me to let the presence take over, if death is the worse that can happen to let it come. She said it is more likely I am not going to die and I'd be surprised what experience waits for me on the other side, should I accept the experience.

BTW, do you ever get annoyed when people stare at you? I do.

Your analogy of a dark room explains your feelings quite well. Tonite it is 8° in grand rapids. I need to practice with musicians tomorrow who i practiced with last nite so i chose to sleep at a rest area even though they offered to let me stay at their place. In a way it is a similar feeling-like being in a ice box. Yet as a yogi i have learned to be more detached. When a we are able to practice more detachment from your emotions it is possible to go into these situations quite untouched and explore more and more realms of this creation. Also it is helpful to bring the gurus and spiritual help we have as gaurdian protection where ever we go.

No Eric it does not make me feel uncomfortable to be starred at. I have been a performer for years so i am rather used to it.

The rest areas in michigan are quite beautiful and plentiful unlike many other states i have been to. Some states are very inhospitable and you may not want to be there for that reason. I am surprised u woul ask eric. I have driven across the U.S. many times and have found a distinct difference in peoples attitudes and the general inviting nature of the states. Also the difference in countries.
