Oh hello! Spring is here! And so the animal totems are in abundance around here! While I won't list ALL of them I was surprised to see the rabbit hadn't been shared yet... SO
Quote
Symbolic rabbit meanings deal primarily with abundance, comfort, and vulnerability. Traditionally, rabbits are associated with fertility, sentiment, desire, and procreation. Rabbit meanings are also closely linked to the seasons, the changes of Mother Earth, and specifically Springtime. Have you ever heard the term "madder than a March hare?" I have (my mom says it). It has to do with rabbits going bonkers around this time of year. They feel the call of spring just as strongly as everyone and everything else - perhaps moreso. Creatures of all kinds feel the tremors of springtime's return and respond to it in wild courtship. It's a celebration of life, and bunnies bounce right back into the swing of spring.

Some general symbolic rabbit meanings include:
Love
Luck
Family
Shyness
Speed
Growth
Rebirth
Harmony
Awareness
Abundance
Creativity
Perception
Esoteric Knowledge

Saturday night I went for my usual exercise. I was startled how close I came to a rabbit in an unusual spot. We stared at each other as I slowly backed away so as not to frighten it further. I was sure this as a good sign and had something to do with taking advantage of an opportunity. Earlier in the day I tried pursuing and successfully got this really cute girls phone number- silly as it sounds, I've been out of the game for a while so it was nice to know something was still working right LOL. Anyways, I thought it was reflective of the situation- take advantage of the opportunity... Spring time... Open doors... Not waiting to act... Cheesy

Finally, if you see a Rabbit cross your path, question its direction. Was it heading to the left, symbolizing the Feminine and Lunar Energies, or was the creature hopping to the right, signifying the Masculine and Solar Energies? Was Rabbit heading North, South, East, or West? The symbolism of the Four Cardinal Directions gives you more insight into Rabbit’s meaning when it appears in your life.

When Rabbit appears, it may be to let you know that personal transformation is necessary or about to happen. While Rabbit has survived for centuries, they are some of the biggest “victims” of the animal kingdom. Have you adopted the role of “victim”? Do you feel others take advantage of you? If so, it’s time to stop. You can only be a victim if you allow it. Rabbits are some of the most clever critters on the planet. Rabbit says, “Trust your smarts! Know that you’re are worthy of respect!”

Do you need help hatching a plan? Are others trying to take advantage of you? Is it decision making time, and you don’t know whether to zig or to zag? Rabbit, as a Spirit, Totem, and Power Animal, can help! Rabbit teaches you how to stop, look, and listen so you can avoid difficulties. Delve deeply in Rabbit symbolism and meaning to find out how this Animal Spirit Guide can still, calm, and illuminate you.

As I was meditating I had a vision of someone putting a noose around my neck and i was passively taken away my awareness recognized it was as though an overlord of some sort took power over me and my feminine qualities did not resist. Although I did not feel as though any type of domination was good for me or for the person in the dominant role.

Very interesting and unique experience. I have recognized the rabbit totem lately too, which is a shared experience in our consciousness.

Hmmm thanks Eric; most likely a correct observation that may be something we need to look at together… since this Indian wise tale just came to my attention.

The origin of the rabbit totem in Native American cultures is often told through the story of the Rabbit and Eye Walker. Eye Walker was a witch who befriended the rabbit. Eye Walker showed unrequited loyalty to her dear rabbit friend in the legend, but the acts of kindness were never acknowledged by rabbit. Rabbit abandons Eye Walker because he fears her magical powers. Eye Walker is saddened and feels betrayed so she sets a curse on Rabbit.

The rabbit for evermore will be called “Fear Caller,” for when he calls out to the eagle in flight or any of the predators he states he is afraid of them; in turn they take him as a meal. This story teaches people about the power and value of friendship and about expressing gratitude for that friendship, all while demonstrating to us that our actions and in-actions have consequences.

The Ultimate Lesson

Above all, Rabbit and Eye Walker teach people how to confront fear by acknowledging it first, then letting go of it. If one lives in fear of an imagined tragedy, the perceived “what-ifs,” then misfortune will find you. If you instead focus on the “what is,” you will find happiness. The rabbit reminds us not to focus on the bad in our lives and in the world, but on the good.

Each have a hop in their step.

Perhaps we have combined lessons?

Friendships are becoming more and more important to me. I've always had a small friends circle and through "wear and tear" have lost some- either I grew tired of them or those who have 'endured' my personality have become tired of me. Being on the losing end or worrying about losing some of those childhood friends affects me more as my circle gets smaller. They're usually pretty tolerant, but sometimes a different side of me comes out through social outings that is less in-control. Or, other times, I've repressed my own feelings even during manipulative or abusive patterns. In this most recent example I have only my self to blame, where a loss of consciousness or change in personality takes over through excessive alcohol consumption. My family drinks and I have tried battling with overcoming this addiction/temporary enjoyment. I do believe progress is being made- despite the upsets.
All of this to say, I find it important to try and maintain a type of awareness of those you would truly wish to call your friends. People come and go, but at least we can try to keep a healing salve as the type of connections we have with our relationships. Although if I'm reading your message right, the way to keep that connection alive is by focusing on the good and not the bad. Gurunath and Swami V have both said, do your best and forget the rest. I think a part of my tiring energy is when I try to apologize for continual misdeeds. Anyways... Combined lessons... Opportunity for awareness- focus on good, let go of bad/worry.

Really that bad/worry in my case is my child like ego looking for validation. If we are trying, we needn't worry. I really believe things sort themselves out. That was kind of the inspiration I had from meditative insight today. To populate/radiate the positivity from within, without. I feel like the older I get the more difficult that simple task becomes. To much living in ones head, totally regressive.  Grin

You are completely correct. I definitely thought the last interpretation I found about the Rabbit was meant for us and keeping our minds on what-is rather than possibly manifesting what-if scenarios. I think what impressed me most is your transparency when it comes to your personal life. I could really relate to this one and it related to the vision I had of being led with a noose around my neck and the story of the Rabbit and Eye Walker.

I can only comment on so much of your last entry because there are personal battles that all of us face that others may not have the right clarity and choice words to address. Better not say anything then say what could be misconstrued or worst yet; that we assume knowledge and wisdom for what we have no right to preach. There may come a time when both of us can address the differences in our relationship with constructive awareness. Till then it may be best to read the shaman messages presented to us. That is the opportunity I see presented by your interpretation of manifesting nature symbolism to guide us through events. This has always been one of your great contributions here. Something brought over from past life medicine man interpreter episodes. After difficult encounters… a hop skip and jump and we are back on the path again. That has always been a reassuring energy that has been our wind to keep us sailing towards higher spiritual insights through mutual understanding.

Above all, Rabbit and Eye Walker teach people how to confront fear by acknowledging it first, then letting go of it. Sometimes the magician pulls the rabbit out of the hat 🎩 and we have a laugh at his entertaining while at the same time recognizing that some tricks are not so easily explained but are the mark of forces and a grace beyond human understanding.
