Just wondering, in both the SRF and the Amma meditation techniques, if it is ok to ask this here ..... why do both begin their meditations with exercises ?
Does this have something to do with limbering up so one can sit for long periods of time ? or does it somehow have a connection to relaxing the body, which then somehow helps the mind to focus on the meditation ? Do other meditations from other religions also have exercises as a pre- meditation routine.

I thought this was a good question and I answered in posts on this subject. However r what I have found fascinating about Meditation is that it is a dimension of timelessness after u get the hang of it. Furthermore I have found that this timeless feeling permeates activities after meditation so it is much easier to go slower on for instance the energizing exercises provided in the SRF lessons. To actually be and experience each moment of them. In this sense it is helpful to often do Spiritual exercises after Meditation.
