Any form of rigidity influences the flow if meditation. We as human beings need to be constantly open th change and factors open to us that expand and increase our consciousness and perceptions and indeed they are their for us and notice how itheres around us get stuck as we move spontaneously ahead.

Steve, could you provide a specific example? I think I am too tired to understand this fully at the moment... I believe I have harbored much, rigidity... Perhaps you are saying to practice becoming more aware of these moments?? Meditation is a wonderful thing, I feel a fool for having resist such a discipline when in reality, it is a medicine for me and my many insecurities...

Sometimes i'm just struck by simiarities we encounter at the sametime eric.....the moth just keeps coming around the last few nites and i let it out outside...but it keeps motivating me...im really trying to get beyond my own will and determination to let divine will take over instead of my will i think that is what i am trying to say about rigidity. Had to post this in two areas because i believe the moth is also sending info. We become trapped in our own will....but what is divine will? I can only share my experiences.

Since u mentioned meditation here i think that once you experience some of the techniques that are available to us today u will find that many people just do not use what is available for liberation. Its like this is the way i have always done it so this is the way i am going to continue to do it....but maybe there is a different approach...for all of us...its being open to that possibility....the mind always traps itself in its own web of difficulty. We are just both seeing our minds at work...occasionally we are able to recognize the traps we have made for ourselves....the we can be free from mind. We often need to listen to our own questions...in them we find that we are being whispered the journey that needs to unfold....rigity arrises out of the fact that people seem to know without being receptive to the fact that kowledge is dependent upon emptying the mind not filling it.....hmmmm its really helpful when we can see our own minds at work....often laying traps for ourselves...to play out the same parts over and over....

It is not as difficult watching others around us and seeing how consciousness works. Most peopl are trying to keep their reality stable....their sense of who they are and they would like to see othwrs conform to that reality. So whether we want to be successful at music or business or with our families we become rigid in our notions of identifying with such 'wants' and do not recognize that there is a divine plan for us that may be quite different then we ourselves presently imagine. With grace though a great master can help us be receptive to a lot larger opening in consciousness that reveals to us who we are and not who we have structured our lives to believe what we are with all our percieved limitations.

Steve, thank you. Speaking of Synchronicity, I find these teachings I am reading lately from Inayat Khan are now aligning with your understanding as well.

Quote
This shows that our life stands before us like a picture. When all that has been designed beforehand begins to happen, our soul will receive a totally different suggestion from the picture. Something that was lacking may have been put in, and in this way the picture is improved. For there are two kinds of artists: one who paints the plan which has been made in his mind on the canvas. And the other who takes suggestions from the picture itself as he goes on painting. The difference is that the one is merely an artist and the other is a master. The latter is not bound to the plan. The former has designed something and is bound to what he has designed; he is limited.

One sees the same thing with a composer of music. He composes a certain melody in his mind; he ponders over it and wishes to put it on paper. But when he plays his composition on the piano, the music suggests improvements to him. He plays the same musical idea that he first had, but he is able to perfect and complete it when he has heard it with his own ears.

That is a picture of our life. There is one man who is driven by the hand of destiny, he does not know where he comes from, he does not know where he is going. He is placed in certain conditions in life. He is busy with something, occupied with something, and he cannot see any other way of getting on. He may desire something quite different, he may have difficulty in putting his mind to what he is doing, but he still thinks he must go on. That is the man who has not yet understood the meaning of this secret. But there is another man who even after a hundred failures is still determined that he will succeed at the next attempt. That man is the master of his success.

I think there’s a great power in humility and forgiveness alongside ones pursuits in self discovery/mastery.
