What i have been finding to be a difficulty with truth is that when people express that they are being truthful they are in actuallity expressing Their Truth. Someone elses Truth may be quite different then our own.

Born in a world of duality and limited in nature, seems we're only capable of expressing partial Truth. No less true but not the entirety of or near comprehensible for many.

Born in a world of duality and limited in nature, seems we're only capable of expressing partial Truth. No less true but not the entirety of or near comprehensible for many.

Yea I suppose we try to live our truth until we find it clashes with someone else’s...then we have to evaluate if indeed our truth is the complete truth or only a partial take on reality. Once we understand another persons reality our truth may change to incorporate an expanded view on realty. If nothing else we must live with the fact that others will have a different truth. If we want to have any type of conversation with them we will learn how to talk with people who see things differently. At some point we may find that the truth that others hold can be destructive in which case we may even have to fight them.

I used to meet people who would see me meditate and believed so much that their truth was correct that they felt they needed to tell me about it and how I was being led astray by demons. Sometimes I simply had to tell them that they were a nuisance and had actually disturbed my peace. But they also believed that it was a false peace....

Recently I spent time with a man who tod me about someone he talked with that completely monopolized the conversation and since he could not get a word in edgewise he asked the man if he knew he was not a very good listener.  So at some point there are those of us that live what we consider to be true is really and infringement on another person or many people and it may take a shaking to wake them or us out of such false perceptions we have of reality.....the hard knocks of life.

There are people who are faced with overwhelming evidence that their truth is based on false illusions but they may continue to hold on to these false illusions in the face of evidence to the contrary. We can see that at the top of government today. It can effect the lives of everyone they are involved with. This can be extremely dangerous. During the Roman Empire for instance the sport of watching people being ripped apart by lions was considered normal and truth to a whole culture. As it was considered a truth by Adolph Hitler to murder a whole race of people. When we have such ‘ truths’ existing in culture it is often part of our duty to fight them since they are not truth but rather the product of ego.

Today we see the results of ego in our president. This is not truth but rather the result of false pride and a desire to hold on to an out lived  and outworn past that does not apply to present circumstances. We all do this to some degree in our personal lives and must come to terms with the fact that we may be affecting others negatively by living out our truth. I have had to face this fact about myself at times in my life as well.

This clashing of truths seems more like the rubbing of sandpapers against each other. Belief's go through an evolutionary process and eventually culminate into faith. Greater than any debate or altercation is putting into practice one's belief's. The best we can do is seek God and it is where true joy rises. To think we are capable of comprehending truth as limited beings is nothing more than a musing for the ego. We are sparks of the Divine and we find ways to attune to the spiritual oceanic bliss where being an instrument of God is the key to our everlasting happiness, and a path to experience heaven on earth. When we are out of tune we find we are suffering though may not understand why right away.

The Sufi believes All paths lead to the one. Even for those who do not believe in a Soul they too will one day be God Realized. If our beliefs interfere with another, but do not disturb us then maybe we're doing something right. What I mean is, usually the interference comes when man ask another his opinion on a subject- a wise man often safeguards his opinion for the sake of Harmony and carefully chooses his words. It's an interesting concept- how one binds themselves to their opinion's or how others think they know all there is to someone once they express their opinion.
Intolerance is a natural response from man, evident in the lower realms, and exist even in the enlightened individual whose peace is easily disturbed when someone sits next to him. Truth is multidimensional. Love and Intelligence, which seem separate, are one in the same- they can not exist without each other. With Understanding, tolerance is learned and a greater expression of Love is formed.

Back to truth... If we remove the context or conditions in which a truth is formed we realize that truth may then be false or only partially true. Again, how can we know the unknowable- live in complete harmony with the limitless whilst limited ourselves? Reason will often cloud the truth because reason alone can not perceive the omniscient omnipresence.

So now I feel like sharing my opinion. Can it be accepted here? I believe in God and Soul. I believe this body and this soul are gifts from our Mother Earth and God. I believe God is Love, but do not fully know what this means. I pray to God though I pray, "I'd like to meet you." I believe our body will cease to exist so to get acquainted with this transition on a daily basis... I believe to Love others and do good for others to the best of my ability. I prefer nonviolence and understand we all tread unique paths. The only war I wage is within myself.

On a separate but not separate line of discussion... Here the beliefs of the Sufi may put Truth in better perspective...

To further elaborate on the mission and the methods employed to develop one's inner life, Inayat wrote:

There are ten principal Sufi thoughts which comprise all the important subjects with which the inner life of man is concerned:

1) There is one God, the Eternal, the Only Being; none else exists save God.

2) There is one Master, the Guiding Spirit of all souls, who constantly leads all followers towards the light.

3) There is one Holy Book, the sacred manuscript of nature, which truly enlightens all readers.

4) There is one Religion, the unswerving progress in the right direction towards the ideal, which fulfils the life's purpose of every soul.

5) There is one Law, the law of Reciprocity, which can be observed by a selfless conscience together with a sense of awakened justice.

6) There is one human Brotherhood, the Brotherhood and Sisterhood which unites the children of earth indiscriminately in the Fatherhood of God.

7) There is one Moral Principle, the love which springs forth from self-denial, and blooms in deeds of beneficence.

Cool There is one Object of Praise, the beauty which uplifts the heart of its worshipper through all aspects from the seen to the unseen.

9) There is one Truth, the true knowledge of our being within and without which is the essence of all wisdom.

10) There is one Path, the annihilation of the false ego in the real, which raises the mortal to immortality and in which resides all perfection.

The objectives of the Sufi path:

1) To realize and spread the knowledge of unity, the religion of love and wisdom, so that the bias of faiths and beliefs may of itself fall away, the human heart may overflow with love, and all hatred caused by distinctions and differences may be rooted out.

2) To discover the light and power latent in man, the secret of all religion, the power of mysticism, and the essence of philosophy, without interfering with customs or belief.

3) To help to bring the world's two opposite poles, East and West, closer together by the interchange of thought and ideals, that the Universal Brotherhood may form of itself, and man may see with man beyond the narrow national and racial boundaries.

The Way of Illumination, Sufi Thoughts, Inayat Khan

In the process of evolution  we are often blessed to be rubbed together like rocks...or as you say sand paper to present our spiritual form. I met a monk who said praying the prayer; "chisel thou my will to thy purpose is indeed a powerful prayer". A person does not know what he/she is asking for praying such prayers. 'Because we ask for such things from God but then say in effect..."It hurts....it hurts...please stop now!" The ego has a hard time tolerating such spiritual  work on ourselves. As you said duality continues to effect us...it also affects our reactions to spiritual discipline and learning.

6) There is one human Brotherhood, the Brotherhood and Sisterhood which unites the children of earth indiscriminately in the Fatherhood of God.

#3 above If there is only one book; The sacred manuscript of nature. How can we allow our leaders to destroy it?

#5 and #10 How can we have an awakened sense of justice when our leader strikes fear and intimidation in his people by revoking our/their first amendment rights? How can we work towards the annihalation of the ego for us all when our leader demands that the only way we can speak about him is in an adulation mode to support his ego in every way? How can there be reciprocity when only 1% of the population own over 90%of the resources of our nation and people are not payed according to their services but rather they are payed as low as is possible so that the few can enjoy the material blessings of the nation while over 60 million in our country live in poverty and have been left behind in what was once a land of opportunities?

Clapper stated that while America’s survival doesn’t hinge on whether Brennan or any of the other people under review keep their security clearances, “The larger issue here, to me, has — throughout, has been infringement on First Amendment rights, and I think people ought to think seriously about that.”

Clapper later added, “f I lose my access to classified information, it really doesn’t have any immediate, substantive impact on me. I don’t plan to stop speaking about, you know, when I’m asked my views on this administration. There are some things I’ve agreed with, that this administration has taken — actions they’ve taken, but lots of things that I don’t agree with. So, if they’re saying that I can’t — the only way I can speak is to be in an adulation mode of this president, I’m sorry. I don’t think I can sign up for that.”

(former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper)

#6 How can we think of a brotherhood of countries and human beings when we have a leader who constantly makes slanderous remarks that are sexist bigoted and against other cultures and derogatory to citizens of other nations?

#7 How can the law of benifence manifest when we see no self-denial in our leaders but rather self-opulence and self inflation of ego and pride?

The objectives of the Sufi path:

1) To realize and spread the knowledge of unity, the religion of love and wisdom, so that the bias of faiths and beliefs may of itself fall away, the human heart may overflow with love, and all hatred caused by distinctions and differences may be rooted out.

#3 above. How can we see beyond the narrow national and racial boundaries when we have a president that encourages those distinctions thus influencing our young people to do the same.
