Human beings are trying to reach the highest peaks of success. Spiritual life is a great act of courage. It requires inner conviction. Knowledge does not just dawn on us one morning. A doctor may work for 20 years to get his degrees to do his work. After trying something for a little while most lose interest.

If we fail to stick to certain techniques none of them will work by trying multiple solutions. Part of the reason we look for shortcuts is we have no patience.

And to remind ourselves enlightenment isn't just achieved overnight. Every desire at its core, conscious or unconscious, is to reside in Gods Love. We mistakenly place our Faith in things temporary in nature. A doctor may take 20 years to obtain his degree- a soul becoming conscious of its deepest desire may take lifetimes to obtain God-Realization...

"The soul's true happiness lies in experiencing the inner joy, and it will never be fully satisfied with outer, seeming pleasures. Its connection is with God, and nothing short of perfection will ever satisfy it." — Hazrat Inayat Khan

Successful people are not successful because they never fail, they are successful because they don't stop trying... So it is, our practices are not a Fad but a lifestyle- knowing we're working on improving years and generations of now undesirable behavior.

Don't be discouraged because you aren't the embodiment of some end result you've envisioned... Count your blessings and notice where you are now in Life compared to where you were then- if you are noticing progress, consider this a success as you continue on with the practices that have helped you get where you are now.

Steve,
isn't Kriya Yoga a shortcut?  Smiley

In my practice I certainly would not call it a short cut. But it has given me a lot of peace over the years and even more personal protection and satisfaction of worthwhile  desires though not in my time table.

I do not know that I can answer your last post without further clarification. There are people that drive to Detroit from where I live. The fastest way is to take 96. But most anyone would get there faster then i. But then I like to stop along the way and almost always have. I just do not like to rush and find that everyone around me has tried to make me speed along .  But when I am inspired I seem to make much more progress. That is why I make most of my choices. That may not be the answer others give you. Because like many things in life there is a certain amount of discipline invloved. I suppose the discipline has grown out of experiences during the years and the pain and suffering of knowing what the alternative is- coming back to this life over and over for more hard knocks.
