I am going to begin to include pictures here where I meditate. Hope you do also! You may need to open this subject to see these places where I meditate in Michigan. Thanks

This picture I have included here is one of the many streams and rivers in Michigan. I enjoy sitting beside them and meditating.

Your spot looks very nice.
Whenever I try to meditate outdoors, I am always bothered by insects. Do you have a solution?

I changed the topics name after your question. Thanks. It makes for more interesting and helpful reading.

There are better times. After a frost the critters are dead. And before it gets warm in the spring they have not hatched yet. Also on windy days they are unable to navigate easily. It would be somewhat like us trying to go for an evening walk when there was a hurricane outside. I often meditate in the winter as well. I just dress very warm, energize and sit under a tree until I get too cold to continue. I have also spent many meditations in a vehicle when it was the middle of winter. I would heat the car and get warm and then meditate with the window open until it became so cold that I had to turn the engine back on or by that time my meditation was done anyhow. Whenever I have been close to an ocean I have gone there to meditate. Insects generally speaking, do not thrive near salt water. I really like meditating at a campfire when it is too cold for the mosquitoes and bugs to be searching out human habitats.

Mosquitoes do not like tea tree oil or citronella oils.

For a more green approach, try installing some of these insect-repelling plants around your yard.
Marigolds. Not only do they make your landscape more attractive, but marigolds also have a distinct smell that repels mosquitoes. ...
Citronella. ...
Catnip. ...
Lavender. ...
Basil. ...
Lemon balm.

It is early November in Michigan all the critters have died in the first frost but there ar still comaparatively warm days left to the first frost. It is a very good time to get out and meditate. The cool air keeps you awake and helps you become more aware of your breath.

There are obvious times and places it would be better not to chance it. For instance; when it is very humid and warm, near a stream or pond, where the mosquitoes will come full force in their blood sucking rituals.

I must say, I am impressed by your ability to meditate in the cold. Maybe you were a yogi in the Himalayas in a previous life.

I really just dress up warm and practice detachment as much as I presently believe I am able to. But it is true that I most likely have lived in cold climates and I do believe I lived in India before; Perhaps many of us here have, who have started meditation and yoga at a very young age. I remember practicing Hatha yoga in gym class in high school while others played basketball and gazing into candles as a self proclaimed meditator as a young teenager. I say self proclaimed because I really had little success with meditation until I started practicing kriya. Below I am energizing at Lake Michigan; a wonderful place to practice yoga and meditation and swimming.

Wonderful photo's. That last one to me, is like your picture is saying, "I am with You, my Beloved" A freeing sense of oneness with the moment- a union with God, the unrivaled love. Happy for you Bro. Is there really any other where to reside?

Yes Lake Michigan and some other areas around here are at times heavenly; I hope you are able to visit sometime!

I was observing what you said here; and the thought came to me that others have seen the same beautiful scenes. I am fortunate to have friends to remind me that we should acknowledge where these blessings originate!

I’m going out today to meditate in the woods and last I saw it is under 30 degrees here. However thinking of your quote here I am happy I do not have to contend with all the critters and varnints come next spring.
