I think sometimes it’s best to just sleep off our sexual fantasies when they over power us. Subconscious memories just need the right circumstances to be retriggered and activated. In meditation we observe our thoughts but at times are thoughts can haunt us and sleep often rests them temporarily and we wake up in a different state of consciousness. When we do not have satisfactory companion at times it is better to just dip into subconsciousness to awaken with often a different perspective.

I was curious what you thought about eating also, this is a desire I am looking to conquer.
Sex, food and alcohol.
Do you ever crave a particular food and feel the need to satisfy the idea? Often we know some idea's are greater than the reality but that doesn't stop the craving or the agitated/restless mind from seeking fulfillment.
It's easy to see just how animal we are in the pursuit of developing will-power. This plight grants sympathy for our animal brothers and sisters. We are beautiful no doubt...

Sleep, meditation and exercise have been helpful to overcome particular indulgences. I am looking to better prepare myself with not existing, though this idea may be abhorred by some, I find an approaching desire to be reacquainted with the Shiva/Babaji energy or more plainly- the destroyer and the lightless light.
I am not ready to die, I'm not asking about information of an afterlife either. I have other desire's to fulfill while I am here. I suppose you are spot on to say death and rebirth are heavy themes in me and seeing as some of us at the portal are looking to escape the entrapment of routine, live with a sense of purpose or burn some Karma I wanted to bump this and name my response: Combating desires.

Should you have any other tips I am all eyes & ears.  Cheesy
Namaste friend!

Sri Yukteswar
"Conserve your powers. Be like the capacious ocean, absorbing quietly all the tributary rivers of the senses. Daily renewed sense yearnings sap your inner peace; they are like openings in a reservoir that permit vital waters to be wasted in the desert soil of materialism. The forceful, activating impulse of wrong desire is the greatest enemy to the happiness of man. Roam in the world as a lion of self-control; don't let the frogs of sense weakness kick you around!"
A true devotee is finally freed from all instinctive compulsions. He transforms his need for human affection into aspiration for God alone- a love solitary because omnipresent."

Eric I do accept the words you have expressed here. However I also have had the experience that various chakras have their individual purpose. To give a for instance; although we as spiritual beings do not care to be trapped in this physical dimension and be victims to it we are influenced take physical actions and keep our body temple in shape and healthy by the physical impulse that is activated by the sacral chakra.

Thank you Steve, Inayat Khan has said if our purpose was purely spiritual we would have no need for physical incarnations. Man is both spiritual and material.

...Here I found the actual quote,
Quote
Many people think that the physical has little to do with the spiritual. Why not, they ask, cast the idea of the physical aside in order to be entirely spiritual? If without the physical aspect of our being the purpose of life could be accomplished, the soul would have not taken a physical body and the spirit would not have produced the physical world. A Hindustani poet says, 'If the purpose of creation could have been fulfilled by the angels, who are entirely spiritual, God would not have created man.' That shows that there is a great purpose to be accomplished by what is called the physical body. If the light of God could have shown directly, there would not have been a manifestation such as that of Christ. It was necessary, so to speak, that God should walk on the earth in the physical body. And the conception that the physical body is made of sin, and that this is the lowest aspect of being, will very often prove to be a mistake, for it is through this physical body that the highest and the greatest purpose of life is to be achieved. A person only calls it his physical body in ignorance. Once the knowledge has come to him he begins to look upon it as the sacred temple of God.

Well I wonder if Khan Has as Much of a benevolent view of the desires that lurk in the human form-the physical body-and that they too have a purpose.
