I have been drinking energy drinks for much of my life; but recently have had many questions about the usage of stimulants and serious concerns. This thread is meant as a resource for understanding these drinks, their effectiveness and detriments. Although not by any means conclusive.

Dear Steve,

Intuitively I conclude the Monster energy drinks are not in my best interest. I sincerely hope you find a healthier alternative to aid you in achieving the desired effect.

In Ayurveda, I am learning there are foods and drink that are considered provoking and foods and drink that are considered pacifying. Initially I thought to strive for only pacifying. However, considering the advice from Gurunath- to tread a middle path, and by reasoning that it is possible to go too far in any one direction I believe it is okay to consume certain stimulants in order to arouse the senses. It is advised before meditating to shower in cool to cold water which agitates the body but has an effect on the mind that is beneficial to the meditator.

Equilibrium is the desired state, which can best be achieved by deep and sincere meditation. Having both a soul and a material body we can experience both the unchangeable and changeable. Until we are anchored in the divine, we rely on foods drink and breath to nourish our changeable body which in turn has an affect on the mind. It is important to consider the type of nourishment we provide and whether or not we've become too dependent on any one external source or attached to their affects.

Considering that you are placing this drink in question, I think you are to take a break from Monster altogether. Quite possibly you need to balance out an overly-stimulated side of yourself or relinquish an attachment of some kind, now is a good time to find creative solutions and alternative forms of nourishment.

I have quite the attachment to cold brew coffee and thus try to limit my intake.

We can rise above these things together, my Spiritual Brother!

My first response is to respond with an alternate view. However since YOU suggested/advised me here I think 🤔 I will reconsider and ponder before continuing my journey into these stimulating drinks that I started about a decade ago.

I enjoy experimenting-though it can be helpful it also can have unwanted repercussions. But would like to implement this as an experiment (from you and Gurunath) - “to tread a middle path, and by reasoning that it is possible to go too far in any one direction I believe it is okay to consume certain stimulants in order to arouse the senses. It is advised before meditating to shower in cool to cold water which agitates the body but has an effect on the mind that is beneficial to the meditator.”
