Intereststs; Meditation/Spiritual Life

« on: Nov 19, 2019 08:43 pm »

Although Paramahansa Yogananda describes reason as ‘one of the unique qualities of human beings’ - in the self realization fellowship lessons’  we often find that it is very difficult to reason with some people we encounter and sometimes it is a rather futile exercise and attempt to bring understanding. Their reactions and actions follow an often irrational course. It is quite often better to not waste our time and let them be on certain issues and subjects.

Although in our experiences with this life we may encounter many situations and people who have abilities far beyond the scope of the rational mind. Interestingly enough, we find this function of reason does not work well during meditation and actually can be an impediment to stilling an active mind. For example hunches, intuitions, inspirations and visions often come quite separate from the function of reason and the rational mind.
