It is so good to have you back Spirit Fox. We have not heard from you in a while. Yes i think that there are special places you can go to commune with nature where the great spirit dwells. i seek these areas out so that i can meditate there and feel the peace and inner contentment. It is at these times i can pray more deeply for others and my own guidance. In mysterious ways we are eventually shown what the path is ahead of us. Do you have such places where you live?

i often feel a spiritual connection going to SRF churches and Buddhist meditations as well. For a while i was going to a Christian meditation and study at an Episcopal church i also enjoyed the bliss of a spiritual connection there a couple of times. Of course being with Amma at her gatherings brought the stirring of my heart also.

Steve, I feel the closeness of God in nature. In the churches, and I have visited many, there is such a cold, impersonal feeling. I like the warmth of feeling in nature, God is next to us, everywhere we look. Do you agree ?

Many thanks for the welcome back Steve. I also feel this peace and inner contentment when meditating in nature. This feeling seems even more deep, when there is water nearby, such as a river flowing. It is so easy to just sit and watch the water flow, as your thoughts flow with the river. It seems I am drawn to the river for reasons I am not sure of.

Perhaps it was the churches that I visited that made the difference in the lack of spiritual connection. I feel drawn to some of the Buddhist ways, there is a calmness and serenity that other religions seem to lack. Have you noticed this ?

Nature is usually calm and peaceful, the idea of communing with / in  nature has a basic peaceful feeling.

Buddhist ways, also calm, peaceful and simple. These interest me.

Zen moment  Cool

"Nature makes clear the windy air,
And bright the round moon.
In the bamboo garden,
On the pine fence,
Not a speck of dust.
How fresh and fervent is life
With a long lute and piled scrolls! "

What i have noticed is that each of the paths seem to have a certain vibration about them. i would say you are correct about this calmness and serenity you are talking about. However there is a flip side to the coin. Sometimes i sense a coldness and aloofness. It seems to me that every path has its' share of dualities inherent in the search.

Steve, I would be interested in hearing more, about what you mean when you say " each of the paths seem to have a certain vibration about them " ....can you feel this ?

I too notice a coldness, in certain churches, temples and an aloofness surrounding those who are within. Perhaps each is so into their devotion, that they are not aware of the presence of others. Is this what you mean, by sensing  "a coldness and aloofness "?

When I am in devotional mood, that is my focus. This coldness in the churches and temples is what brings me to choose nature surroundings, when possible.

Pranams to brother Spirit Fox

You have opened up a discussion that involves quite a lot of responses. Let me respond to one. Perhaps someone else will respond to the others. i think there is a time for nature and a time for the inspiration of high souls in churches and temples.  Where there are people there are bound to be problems and where ever there is nature there are bound to be problems. (just try to avoid mosquitos while meditating)
