i checked thru these pages and one thing that i see missing is meditation techniques. i have found that having many different approaches to meditation make the practice exciting, less routine and sometimes stale. When i feel restlessness come upon me and find it hard to settle down i often change my routine and try some practices that occupy the mind or the body until i have calmed down. This is the advantage of having lessons on meditation...having Spiritual Guides and Gurus. They know how difficult it can be to settle the mind and have created many techniques to do so. There are a tremendous amount of techniques to practice with the breath alone and we can always get up energize, practice hatha yoga, jog or swim to equalize and release tensions that cause restlessness. i often do the 10-10-10 breathing exercises. Tense and relax body parts and remain mindful of any residual tension in the body that contributes to restlessness. i also like doing the 15-25-40 breath holds that Paramahansa Yogananda mentions in his Lessons. At times i practice affirmations and visualization exercises as well to calm a restless mind.

One further important observation. Everybody has things they want to accomplish and manifest in their lives: A home. Pay the bills. Get a car. Find a boyfriend or girlfriend. Experience an emotional high. Sexual satisfaction. The right political system that fits our ideas. Have friends. And the list goes on. But what we do not realize is that all these desires, though may not in themselves be bad, contribute to a restless mind. Very few people are happy with what is, what they have and more importantly what they are.
