Lately I have watched the way my mind functions more and more. In the process I have also found out more and more how other people’s minds function. It has become apparent that when trying to understand others; I can be drawn into the darkness and confusion of their minds. I often need to take a break from them because their thought patterns affect the thoughts of myself and can make it difficult to meditate. The confusion of others becomes very apparent when they are not interested in meditation. Their thoughts often draw others into their drama which is created from a lack of awareness on their own part of how their actions and thoughts affect themselves and others. When we start addressing the confusion in our own minds by our thought patterns we become aware of how the confusion and desires of others we meet draw us into their thought forms.

Yes that makes sense. I feel that all humans are connected, not only in the spirutual sense (advaita) but also at a biological level.
You know those studies that show that 2 cells of a human being are connected whatever the distance. I suppose it could be the same process through or compatible DNAs.
Sometimes I do the prayer technique not with hands in the air, but with hands on my own body, and I try to feel that body resonating with all other human beings. It's a huge sensation.

Just as electricity and magnetism are related so are the magnetism  and  vibrations that exist in people and the thought forms they emminate to those sorrounding them and also the effect we have on the objects in our environment and the animals and plants that come into our contact.

Surely we are not without fault. To recognize it in another and to shower them with Love nonetheless is a higher state indeed. I believe God does this for us regularly. What I take from your post is recognizing what keeps you happy(soul satisfying), which can be a difficult lifestyle to maintain. Your awareness is a gift. May we keep each other motivated and striving towards our ideals!

The mind-ever restless with activity-can never find true peace. The mind cannot find peace; it is always involved in thoughts, plans and worries.

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

When a person allows himself to be disturbed, that shows that his concentration is not good. And if his concentration is not good, that shows that his will power fails him. The best way, therefore, to protect oneself from disturbance is to develop the power of concentration, so that the will power develops naturally and one is able to withstand all the disturbances which arise when one has to live in the midst of the crowd.

Independence is achieved by indifference. It does not mean that one should take no heed of what anyone does or says; it only means one should discriminate between important and unimportant things of everyday life; that every necessary and unnecessary thing should not demand so much of one's attention, thought, and feeling. Political economy has become a subject of education, but spiritual economy is the main thing in religion. All one says and does and all that one thinks and feels puts a certain strain upon one's spirit. It is wise to avoid every risk of losing one's equilibrium. One must stand peacefully but firmly before all influences that disturb one's life. The natural inclination is to answer in defense to every offense that comes from outside, but in that way one loses one's equilibrium. Self-control, therefore, is the key to all success and happiness.

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. Read verse in King James Version

We have much to balance out in ourselves and as we make that attempt and resolve to be at peace with the world around us-yet still not compromising our spirit and truth-we find that our outer circumstances work with us in our efforts.

We have much to balance out in ourselves and as we make that attempt and resolve to be at peace with the world around us-yet still not compromising our spirit and truth-we find that our outer circumstances work with us in our efforts and understanding.

‘The Gita was developed when two parties were engaging in a power struggle to determine who would be the leader. While Arjuna didn’t feel comfortable harming his own blood to gain power; Lord Krishna explained why Arjuna must fight to ensure the betterment of the kingdom. The fight was not just between two cousins; it was between a virtuous, fair, just ruler and an unruly group who did as they pleased. Even though they were related and Arjuna did not wish to harm them, Krishna told him to look at the greater good and ignore his selfish desires and prejudices. Good leaders (and people), do not lead by using society’s fear, anger, or hatred, as this only divides the society. A progressive society would instead unite, supporting each other’s differences, and not fear or hate one another.

This one teaching has stuck with me since childhood and I believe is more relevant now than ever – one must not give in to selfish pleasures or pain but instead aim for what is better for the world’s future and must not lead by using fear or hatred.

The recent election in America highlights what a detrimental effect a bad leader can have on his/her nation. Donald Trump is not even in power yet, but due to his election in which he used fear tactics and played on people’s hatred – gendered and race-related crimes in the USA have sky-rocketed. Already we are witnessing him, using this election result as a means of furthering the interests of his company. What will happen in the future is unknown, but should the advice of Krishna be considered, a person like Donald Trump cannot be expected to unite the country or make it “great again”. ‘

P.S. thanks Eric;
