wow, a visitor. hello  Smiley

in my opinion,
affirmation is more like concentration. meditation is the result of concentration. affirmation and concentration are both mental direction guided by your will. in meditation, you are experiencing outside the mind or, personality. if we concentrate on the breath and reducing the chatter that is our mind we open ourselves up to the wonders and opportunities available in the present.

similarly, mantras and affirmations are used to still the chatter as it brings a single-minded focus which is one step towards experiencing meditation.

I have found that affirmation is sometimes the result of the personal will as well. As in the story of the little train that said “ I can” as it tugged it’s way up the hill with a heavy load. It is wonderful this spiritual life and remembering events and experiences from childhood that were most likely carryovers from past lives and now influence present practice. When I swim or go jogging 🏃 I frequently affirm such affirmations in my own mind to go that extra stretch along the way.

Meditation is the science of reuniting the soul with the Infinite Spirit, God. By meditating regularly and deeply, you will awaken your soul — the immortal, blissful divine consciousness at the innermost core of your being.

Affirmation also helps us to awaken our soul thru affirming the right attitude of mind. The Masters tell us we need the right attitude in our spiritual practice to have a conscious awareness of God and our own soul.

I think this response is similar to the first response here after the question. The one important distinction being this; Eric explains that meditation can result in experiences outside the mind. For those who have practiced for years or are fortunate to have more immediate earlier experiences in their life ( due to karma from the past ) meditation results in experiences outside the personality. Perhaps that is why we are often taught by the Masters to set in silent meditation after practicing affirmations.

Affirmation is Psychological

Meditation is Spiritual

But if the affirmation is a repeated mantra, they are the same.

Meditation is using one pointed focus (on a mantra, breathe, etc.) to still the mind, then Union with God or your true Self can happen
